Question i know my target age demo on FB ... do i still split them up?

alright so i know that 20-35 is the best demographic for what i am promoting on facebook, right now i have them split in 5 year increments..

since i know they do the best should i just make one ad for 20-35 or should i still be splitting them up?

Split them up and test to see what fits each demographic the best. The way to sell to a 20 year old is much different then selling to a 35 year old. However, breaking them up into 5 yr age brackets is a good start and just split from there.

i think you guys missed the point .... i already split the ads up between demos ... and the best converting are 30-45 so should i still keep 3 ads .. 30-35, 36-40, and 41-45 .. or should i just make one ad for 30-45?

You might also consider some serious micro-targetting campaigns by single year.

Throw in birthday targetting along the lines of "spent your birthday alone this year?" kind of shit. Birthday's, Xmas and Valentine's are when people are at their loneliest, and therefore most susceptible to companionship based inducements.

guess i did mis-read the question.. i would test.. 30-45 is still pretty broad i would break it up in to smaller ad groups like you put in your post and maybe also run a 30-45 as a test to see if there is a difference.. with facebook if you have some thing that is working having more ads and more impressions out there will only help you out..

Keep in mind you will be getting shit volume if you birthday target. A decent sized demo of 1 million will get you less than 2,000 people because not everyone includes their birth date in their profile. Running traffic on holidays is more likely to be worth your time/effort.

When I do a FB campaign I go in chunks of 5 years, then break the successful ones down into year by year and tweak the shit out of them.

aeisn: True, volume will be lower... but studies would argue that the conversions will be better due to the frame of mind people are in. CTR over pure volume, and FB prefers CTR.

its good to see that you have them split up in 5 year increments. definitely split that demo up. 20-35 is a huge age difference. as you get further into the optimization process you can split it down into even single year groups.
