Hi Everyone!
Semi-n00b here, I am a longtime reader and have done a few PPC campaigns, but I am trying to start a few SEO sites in niches that I am actually somewhat passionate and knowledgeable out. I am a female, so I suppose that helps in my niches, too! They are very female-focused. Anyway, I have had a site for about 6 months now and I have been building content at the rate of a couple of posts per week. I review certain products within a category on the site. I built the site using WP and the domain name is PERFECT...3 of my keywords together. I was actually shocked that the domain was still available. Whenever I search for the 3 keywords that are in my domain on google, my site is nowhere near the top. In fact, I can't even find it on the first 10 pages. Every link on my page is an affiliate link - uncloaked. Is this google's way of slapping my PR because of the links? All of my content is original. If so, I am going to do some reading up on cloaking links. I didn't think my site would be slapped so harshly just because of affiliate links. What do you guys think is going on? I appreciate your help! |

It's possible the affiliate links is the issue but there's a lot more to the equation that your post doesn't address.
Using All In One SEO plugin? Unique titles (targetted keyword) for each post and page? Meta description has the keyword at least once per post? Link randomness? IE, all affiliate links are for the same keyword? Cats and subcats keyword friendly? The list is endless, really. If you've got an exact match dot com, built in WP, it should be reasonably easy to rank well, depending on the competition in your niche. If your site is hotlesbianporn.com, not so much....PM me your URL and I'll take a quick look at it, if you want. Otherwise go read up on SEO best practices for WP.
