I'm new to affiliate marketing and I want to start my own company such as a LinkShare, Adsense, Revboost, ect. What would be the first thing to do to get started, I know computer programming, web design, ect. I have also been a publisher with one of the companies so I know how that part of it works. I figure if you can work to get hits on a website/blog, ect, then you can do the same if you become an affiliate marketer or affiliate manager...?

start as an affiliate first. learn the industry, master it and after 4-5 years you can try to open your own network but you will probably get crashed by competition anyways. your programming and web design skills sure are nice but everybody got those so in the end, experience in the industry will separate you from others.

thats the thing, i know most of what to do and how to do it, the only problem is I don't know where to start, I know how it works, and I know the type of things needed. I can't just show a bunch of numbers to a company and say "hey i've generated these many hits for these ads on "these many" sites/ blogs." Theres a way where affiliate marketers start off I just know what that is or how they go about obtaining there first advertisers.

Starting out an affiliate network for a newbie like you is not recommended. As other member says, you should first start out as an affiliate learn the pros and cons of the industry, attend affiliate seminar and make new connection. Only then you can think to start a new affiliate network. It is not a blog that you can start out from you computer, you will need proper office, staff, etc for that.
Good Luck |

what the fuck are you even trying to ask?
You trying to make your own network but have never done affiliate marketing? You trying to make a network comprised of other networks offers? You have no idea what the fuck is even going on. get some rosetta and try again.

Even if you know what to do, the general idea behind getting a network started is having connections with affiliates that will legitimately sell products. Then you have to go out and build relationships with the businesses. I don't doubt that you know how it works, but if you're just getting in the game, then you probably don't have the necessary connections to get these affiliates and businesses to your company.

I'm new to the car industry and I want to start my own company such as Toyota, Ford, Honda, ect. What would be the first thing to do to get started, I know how to wash a car and I saw a NASCAR race on TV once. I have also been driving my car made by one of the companies so I know how that part of it works. I figure if you can change a flat tire, ect, then you can do the same if you become an car manufacturer or a car dealer...?

Devang23,
The reason why everyone is giving you shit is the same reason why your idea would not work. You just do not understand the industry, which makes sense since you are not involved in it. I have a computer science degree as well and I have worked on web development. The truth of the matter is you would be better off knowing the industry and no programming, than knowing programming and not knowing the industry. The truth of the matter is you can hire someone to do the coding for you. But there is no way to hire someone to give you the experience required. In the end think of this. You want to be successful right? What will you say / do if an affiliate calls/emails you and says "I am stuck can you help me?" or asks "What is a good vertical for the PPC campaign I want to launch?" |
