So I'm wanting to get started with PPC, Adwords in particular. I've got the basics down -- keep tight, related adgroups; use KW in ad; don't direct link, etc. I think my biggest trouble will be creating LPs that get a high QS, specifically, the structure of the LP. I know how to do onpage SEO but I'm unsure of how to structure the site.
I know that thin "bridge" pages are out and G wants content. So how do you set yours up to get a good QS? I did some reading on here and someone suggested installing Wordpress and throwing up a few articles that link back to the main page, but other than that I'm lost. A few other quick questions: - Do you need a new domain for each campaign? Or would TargetedSubdomain.GenericDomain.com work? - Do backlinks to the LP matter as far as QS goes? - Speaking strictly about QS (not user experience), does it matter if you have a fancy, well-designed LP or just a straightforward page with content, keywords, and structure? Thanks for any help. |

You don't have to use Wordpress. There are still plenty of good business pages that have an average amount of content but rank well and get good quality scores. Have you tried simply placing a fairly in-depth and detailed article directly on the front page? This could perhaps help. I'm interested what others have to say as well, this is just my personal philosophy, but i'm no expert at Adwords either.

The LP itself is only a fraction of what it takes to get a good QS. You should check out the following video.

3 things you need to keep in mind:
1) strong connection from keywords to ad to LP. The LP has to have the same linear thread (the same message) as your ad (and the keywords searched for) for both QS and sales. 2) structure your site correctly. Use LSI (latent semantic indexing). You can use the additional words in the google keywords tool to find good categories for your home page. You should take the time to put some articles on your home page - 10-20 is good. They don't need to be unique. But they should be under 2-3 categories using LSI. Also make sure you have: about, contact us, privacy policy, terms of use pages linked to from your LPs. 3) The LPs itself should have the keyword as a H1 tag, meta title, and a direct connection with the ad. You can try and load up a LP without a keyword article/video at first but if that doesn't work you'll need to add it way down the page where the visitor won't see it. This might sound like a lot of work, but you can make the site in under an hour. I've actually found that simple html sites get way better QS than wordpress. |
