Question Seo Questions

Assuming i have a keyword with less than 1000 competing sites in quotes, can i rank in the first page if i use blogger?

What happen if the first page in google is full of pr 5 sites, or sites with thousands of backlinks (not to that page but to the main domain), what are the chances to rank their for a keyword with 1000 competing results?

I really feel lost here...

It might be difficult to rank if you are using a blogger account. Spend the $10 and get a domain, and try and work your main keyword into that domain. It really depends if you can rank first page with a bunch of other sites that have thousands of links on the main page but not on the subpage. The only thing I can say without knowing your keywords is to do research on the keyword(s). How many links do the subpages have, where did they get their links from, how old are the other sites, ect. If your using Firefox get the addon called SEOQuake, this will help you with a lot of these questions. Then determine if you think you can out rank the other sites. Im in a good mood tonight so if you have questions PM me and ill try and help you out.

First you should not gauge a keyword competition by putting in quotes, intitle, these will only give you a picture about what is the keyword "naturality".
What concern most is the top 10-20 competitor, 1 high quality competitor is tougher than 100 low quality competitors!

Also, Web 2.0 properties respond differently to different niche, test it out if you don't want to buy a domain because it is important for you to see how the results differentiate with each other. (Experience:Blogger sucks most of the time)

"full of PR5 sites" "thousands of backlinks". This honestly doesn't look worth your time. If you're still planning to do it use wordpress instead with the SEO plugin.

Get away from Blogger, get your own site. You don't want to work hard and have Google take away your blog randomly (yep, they do own Blogger)

What really matters, like Alexx said, is the looks of the top 10-20 results. The allintitle: searches just gives you an idea of how frequently the whole keyword shows up online and indirectly gives you an idea of how many pages might be optimized to go after the keyword you're targeting.

Just because there's a bunch of big sites with high PR doesn't mean you can't beat them. It does mean that they are able to leverage those stats whenever they create new pages and rank well for most everything, but they are beatable. You need to go install seo quake or Market Samurai and really take a good look at those front page listing's numbers. If the top 10 pages (not main domains!) has low backlinks and PR, you can do it.

Plan out a solid link building campaign and set a goal of 2 to 3 months to get there, that way you don't get impatient and quit early. And make sure you get a domain with your keyword in it, in the exact order and spelling of the keyword you're targeting.

if you can be consistent and patient with linkbuilding for approximately 3 months without getting any frontpage rankings, stick to it. Also, if you have a planned budget for it, you can outsource many aspects of linkbuilding and get there quicker. First evaluate if it is worth the effort, second if you think you will be consistent and patient. Once you decide to go after it, dont loose hope as long as you are building links. Else, look for the long tails. Yes they convert better unless you are looking for adsense revenue.

What i usually do it look for atleast one "weak" site in the top 4. Ie if theres a PR2 site there with under 1000 links and only few 100 pages indexed then i would consider it a "clue" that its possible to get my site up there without too much fuss.
