Checkthisout How to blog and make money online case study with Moe Bedard

Hello to all my fellow webmasters and internet marketers. I am here today to help those that just can't seem to make it online or can't figure out how to blog and make money online. This will be a case study that I will regularly update here on Wicked Fire and my blog.

I am basically going to put it all online for anyone to see and follow by starting 3 websites from $0 to thousands within a 1 year time frame. 2 are my existing websites and one I am going to buy.

I am not going to make this rocket science because it isn't. There is no magic wand or SEO pill that will make these websites successful. In fact they may fail, but my gut and real life experience tells me that they will not.

So who am I and is Moe Bedard qualified to perform this case study?
  • Years online: 10, but only 5 full time
  • Occupation: Full time webmaster, blogger and CEO
  • Specialties: Marketing, Social Media and SEO
  • Websites that earn income: LoanSafe.org and LoanWorkout.org
  • Niche: Loan modifications, loans, debt and credit
  • Advertising: Google Adsense, Chitika and Private sponsors
  • Monthly website revenue: A great income. I employ myself, my son and two other people. Plus I live in 5 acres in Southern California. Have 5 kids. My wife don't work etc. So with that said, it cost a small fortune to cover all that and these website do that. It has taken 3 years to get to this point and now I know the game. Just duplicate and repeat.
CASE STUDY FACTS:

1. Goals: To take 3 websites from $0-$5,000 or more in gross revenue within one year time frames. So, $15,000 per month for all the websites by March 15, 2010

2. Niches: Mixed Martial Arts, Work From Home Jobs and Free Websites super site. These are very competitive niches.

3. Websites: TBA by the end of the week, but 1 will be www.MoeBedard.com

4. Methods to be used: Passion, content and free is the 3 methods. All websites will be ran by people passionate about what they are building online. Good content will result from that passion. Everything we do will be free and better than anyone else in our niche. We will produce great content that people will want to link to.

5. Keep it Simple Stupid: I did this in building my other websites and it worked well.

6. No focus on money: My team and I will not focus on money. Only building quality websites. The money will follow within the 6 month mark. My other websites will pay the bills as we work on these new endeavors.

Things going against me that may lead to failure:

1. Only 1 in 5,000 websites succeed.
2. Each website now makes $0
3. Competitive niches
4. I am very busy just with LoanSafe.org and LoanWorkout.org
5. I have a busy forum that drains my time
6. I am an ex-convict and high school dropout
7. I am going to join the John Chow and Shoemoeny crowd of online money makers and I may look like a kook.

Things going for me:

1. Passion
2. Work ethics. I wake at 4am and stop at 7pm. Of course I take breaks, but I love to work.
3. Past successes: I have websites that make money now and can duplicate methods.
4. Marketing: I know how to market
5. Social media: I know the ins and outs of social media
6. SEO: I know white hat SEO

OK, that is about it and this thread is not only to educate, but to keep my ass in line. I do not do nothing for kicks or just for the hell of it. This is for a reason and I know I will have to keep on my toes because I am putting this online for anyone to see or follow. If I fail, I'll look like and internet ass and if I succeed, I will look like I can back up my mouth with real results online.

I am 38 years old and this is my life. I love it. I need this challenge for myself and also to help others who may be inspired when they see me kicking ass online. I am no one special. I am just a doer. That is ALL you need to be.

Passion plus doing is the key here.

How detailed are you expecting to be in terms of numbers, traffic, revenue, etc? Most case studies end up being really fluffy unless they include these details.

Not sure if you're concerned with outing your domains (already listed your niches, so probably not too much), but it would be interesting to at least get an idea of what choices bring about what numbers and results.

Regardless, more power to ya. Good luck man

Thanks y'all. I guess the point here is to show that anyone can do this with focused attention. I am willing to be transparent with my niches and websites. I honestly do not think that John Chow or Shoemoney should be making the money they do on their blogs. They provide such little value and all hype mostly to those that hope and dream of making it online. I want to steal that traffic with real value and help for those that want to make it online.

In addition, I don't like people suffering when they don't have to. I am passionate about helping people with my blogs.

Yes, my websites will be out there for all to see, copy and fuck with. I dont care. I am going to put my head down and work my ass off at providing value in these niches. My work will turn into rankings withing 6 months time. When I started LoanSafe and LoanWorkout everyone knew about it here on the Fire and some did screw with me. In the end, I came out the winner and the nay sayers are nowhere to be found.

Details will be Google analytics, screen shots, traffic, rank checking, AdSense etc. As detailed as can be because I have seen some lame case studies or BS ones that had no meat. This will be meat, potatoes some gravy and a cold beer.

If you're really serious about this, then you need to start taking pictures of your food at every meal and posting them on your blog.

I think what you're doing is great. There are too many vague 'i make $xxxxx a day' blogs that share nothing of value.

I did a little similar in my blog where i shared all the details of starting my ecommerce biz from scratch.

OK, please put your penises away.

Thanks for the interest and well wishers. It is nice to see many people I respect here comment and wish me well. I just want all of you to succeed and really think about building content websites that last. More brands, then just offers.

OK, I am not going to update this daily, but most likely weekly. So 52 updates is what i am going to commit to. Each update will be with stats, screen shots, ideas, progress and news relating to these websites.

I am going to build websites the Matt Cutts way. Clean and happy SEO so everyone and especially Google loves my content. It is really easy, it is just a matter of doing it.

I was reading Bob Briscos blog (CEO of Internet Brands) and he offers some good tid bits on building a successful website, so I'll post his words here since I couldn't have said it any better. If you take Matt Cutts SEO and Google tips in the video link above and then combine it with the Briscos advice, you then have my blueprint for building these sites.

Here is Bricos blog post:

Quote:
Only 1 in about 5,000 attempts at building websites results in a successful business (more on these stats in following posts). At our PubCon keynote I outlined the five primary factors that determine the winners:

1. Focus
2. Uniqueness
3. Monetizability
4. Content
5. Community

And the transcendent ingredient:
6. Passion

I'll begin to break these down:

Focus

Target one niche or application (at least to start). The more precise the better. Examples: not travel, but cruises. Not hobbies, but scrapbooking. Not students, but colleges (think of Facebok's start). Focus forces you to understand the target better and to build better solutions. Win a single type of audience, only then expand.

Uniqueness

At the onset, the business should either be unique or do something much better than everyone else. Over time, competition tries to replicate the success of others, but the best businesses preserve aspects of their uniqueness by continuing to innovate (like Amazon).

Monetizability

Follow the money trails, the commercial trails. Audience alone is sometimes not enough. Not all audiences monetize very well.
I will be working hard every day and update you all here weekly on this thread. At then end of the week, I'll give out all my websites URL's and a progress report.

Peace! (Time to get a beer and pretzels for the Unarmed Vs. Jon Pimp Thread)

Moe- it's great to see how you've built up LoanSafe.org. I remember when you joined WF over 2 years ago and just ran your mouth nonstop, but to see it backed up with the growth of your 2 main sites is great. Really shows what dedication and passion can accomplish.

Looking forward to your updates.

OK, I said I would update this weekly, I lied. I mean, I opened my mouth too soon. What I will do is post info here when I think it relates to this case study. For example Today I wrote a post titled Build a niche website that goes over niches and my thoughts on the long tail etc.

I think it is important to understand niches and the long tail for beginners. This my be mundane for experienced webmasters, but this is meant to be a 101 on blogging. I recall in 2007 and Andrew Wee did one that never really delivered. I mean Mr. Wee is a cool dude, but it was rather weak of a case study and I think it was never finished.

OK, here is some meat from today's post. If you want to read more, then check it out on my blog here;

It’s all about the long tail.

Quote:
If your looking for to build a niche website, you’re going to find it in the long tail. Your not going to start a niche blog about slippers, you’re gonna start a blog on furry fluffy slippers. Your not going to start a forum on cars, you’re going to start one on Honda Civics or Ford Trucks. You have to it narrow down to a two, three or more word long tail target.

Chris Anderson, Editor of Wired Magazine wrote a great book on the long tail called, The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More and has a blog that really explores this subject in depth. He goes beyond just the web and into buying habits and search habits of consumers. I really suggest you buy it.

Below I am going to go over some examples of niches and long tails that I know can make money online right now. Please steal them and make them your own. I don’t have time to pursue them.

Maybe you can think of some of your own ideas. The goal here is to get your creative juices flowing so you can zero in on some possible endeavors that are viable to pursue. There is no need to make this rocket science.
Later this week I'll go in to more of my niches chosen for this case study and why.

The purpose of this thread isn't to teach the know it all affiliates how to blog. For the most part, you all just know how to build landing pages and squeeze pages to pimp your latest scams, I mean offers. Most of you do not make money blogging or off forums. This is fact and if you can debate me on this show me your websites or what you do that makes you so qualified to even Comment on this thread. Please just stay off of it and let me do this case study for those that want to learn something.

This is a thread by someone who is making consistent money off of a content site and knows what he is talking about. I am putting my work where my mouth is by doing this. I am sure known of you have contributed value to this forum or proved your abilities to the Wicked Fire crew and if you havee, show us? Otherwise, go peddle Jon's 360 Grants or something more productive and STFU.

I would challenge any of you know it alls to a website dual. Who can rank first? Who can make more money? Huh, you want some of this. Huh, huh------ yeah, thought so.

-rep for missing the point by not reading the post, and then blatantly stating that you did, in fact, miss the point entirely.

sadly, my rep doesn't count yet.

OK, here is some meat from today's post. If you want to read more, then check it out on my blog here;

It’s all about the long tail.

Later this week I'll go in to more of my niches chosen for this case study and why.
I appreciate the need to cover "blocking and tackling". But, I really hope you deliver on the thread premise. Suspiciously observing before calling for banishment to noobville.

Now that would actually be a sick thread/competition case study.

The Irony of Moe. He came here running his mouth to start for a while. Pissed most people off on the forum.

Then figured out not spending all your time on WF is how you make money. Then he went and focused on building some shit and low and behold. Sounds like a little hard work and focus lined his pockets nicely.

Prop's Moe I always liked yah but help educate peeps on how to rock it.
