Newbiealert Making an Instructional Desktop Video

I outsource work almost daily (usually to foreigners, unfortunately) and I am having trouble communicating an idea to one person in particular through text or phone. I think it'd be my best solution if I created some sort of .mpeg or Flash that he can watch and listen to that will help him better understand everything.

Is there software specifically tailored to recording desktop and mic input for instructional videos like this?
