So I get this email that a Marcia Johnson (whom I don't know) has posted something in my inbox from facebook:

If you said I don't believe in traffic and walked in front of oncoming traffic then does that make the traffic go away because you said you don't believe in it?
If you were to look at a building then you would see there was a builder because the building exists. When you look at a painting then you would see that there was a painter. Now when you look at creation then you must see see there was a creator.
Go to The Way of the Master and take the Good Person Test.
You can choose not to believe in God but that doesn't mean He doesn't exist.. think about it.

The logic of that is so fucked up, not exactly a very convincing argument. "Look at creation..." doesn't make sense - those who don't believe in that shit wouldn't view the world as creation, so have no need for a creator.

Believe in God, join the army, let other people do the thinking for you.

I know what you mean. I'm often times grateful and wonder if it's a paradox to be thankful and grateful to...no one in particular. Really, I don't think it is. For example, I celebrate thanksgiving and christmas because I think they represent family, reflection, and time to celebrate the joy of being alive.

Exactly right. There was a brief period where I was very "anti religious" and felt bitterness about all the commercialism and hypocrisy around the holidays.

But I'm a little older and a little wiser now, I think, and I look forward to the holiday season for the positive influence it has on people, and on me, and I ignore the negatives.
