Technically speaking .uk.net are actually subdomains of the domain uk.net. These names are provided by the UK company centralnic.com.

Regardless of this the name CarHire.uk.net has merits in terms of being memorable and fairly brandable.

It's not even a proper domain. It's nothing more than a glorified sub domain.

I don't mean that to sound like I'm getting on your back, I'm just bitching as it wasn't that long ago that I had a row with someone that I did some work with.

I explained his .uk.com was simply an expensive sub-domain of uk.com, created by whatever enterprising individual got their hands on uk.com and imao, was worthless. I then went through the same pointless discussion over .eu.com... Needless to say he told me to fuck off.

The difference between .uk.com and .net.uk is that in UK, afaik nobody can just register .uk. It's either a .co.uk (most popular choice) or .net.uk. UK is a bit conservative with their domain market.

Yes, .uk.net is a subdomain, but I believe they can still be made to rank OK, and the URL looks good in PPC campaigns. The .uk.net is strictly speaking not a .uk domain, it is a subdomain of uk.net.

Regarding .uk extensions in general, then you have .co.uk (companies), .org.uk (organisations, but in practice anyone can register them), .me.uk (strictly speaking for registration by individuals only).
