It is not necessary to "sugarcoat" anything.
Yes, you are right in one point:
Profile links are a part of the "whole" (not the complete thing offered), please read:
1st layer: 250 High PR links with your anchor. These are the links pointing to you site.
2nd layer: 2750 profiles with verified links built to high PR links
That is part of the "pyramid" offered, and also, in this way sandbox'es don't occurs.
