| Sell, Buy & Trade Think of this place as the stock market. Loud, bustling, and tons of angry people demanding all sorts of things, using words your mother would kill you for saying. Keep it legal and realistic, because you'll be banned if we catch you scamming or cheating. |

Do you have any information on the legality of sending SMS spam in the U.S.?
It looks like a killer app if you can get away with it.

Question: Is this software only compatible with networks in continental United States?
If not, which international networks DOES it work with? In my case, I'm specifically interested in Australian nets.

For UK people, there's a free app called GenieTexter. I've never used it for marketing though, and I have no idea where you would get a list of mobile numbers from.
Although, perhaps they could be harvested from facebook or somewhere. Probably not legal in any country though. GenieTexter News - Send free SMS text messages from your PC |

As of right now, this software is only compatible with the following US networks:
ACS Alaska Alltel Ameritech AT&T Boost Cellular One Cingular Cricket Edge Wireless Metro PCS Mobile One Nextel Qwest Sprint SunCom T-Mobile Telus Verizon Virgin Mobile I know there is probably a lot of controversy about this being considered spam. SMS Marketing is pretty much the same thing as email marketing. The only difference is instead of your ad going to a person's email inbox, it's going right to their pocket. It's completely up to you how you use this software. If you use it properly, then I wouldn't consider it spam. However, if you're sending the same message to the same person multiple times, then it may be questionable. As for the actual legality of it, I will need to do some more research. I would also like to add that I'm not familiar with non US networks and how their cell phone numbers are formatted. If anyone would like to enlighten me on that matter, it may be possible that I can build it in a future update. |

Thanks MCRunning for posting that. I was looking for a good link to post for that information.
@micfire: I have built in a feature to utilize txt2day's provider lookup (Txt2day Cell Phone Provider Lookup). You won't have to leave the software to use that utility. You can try it for yourself in the demo to see if it works to your liking. I have tested quite a few numbers that I personally know the provider for, and it identified them correctly every time. |
