I have a bb 8700 but feel like its not even a contender now a days. I've always been a bb fan, cause it integrates nice with a corporation's IT initiatives, but fuck. I can't even read a pdf properly, embedded youtube vids don't appear In forums etc

The iphone4 seems like an obvious upgrade, since some people at work have them and activesync has been improved 10fold since its debut.

I'm also entertaining droid phones, althought it'd HAVE to work with exchange. I'm not sure at this point if it does. Thoughts?

What do you guys use as your "dd" phone, that let's you stay connected (bbm / gtalk), let's you read ebooks when you're on the shitter. And watch movies, listen to music when you're at the gym. And browse forums the way they're suppose to be?

I'm not an Apple zombie, but I do like the phone. It was required for the graduate program I'm in, and since my whole family is on AT&T anyway, I figured I'd stick with it for another year or so.

I really wanted the Palm Pre, but I might get a DROID in the future.

I'm usually on WiFi 95-98% of my day anyway, so the data plan isn't a big issue for me, so I went down from my unlimited to the 200MB/month one to save a little cash.

There's a guy in China who's making a case that turns an iPod Touch into an iPhone. That might be something you look into as well. I saw that news story on my CNN app a few weeks ago.

Yes, I have my iPhone using Exchange to connect to my Google account so I can run several calendars synced into one. Here's a pretty tutorial to use Exchange (And it's just a standard, you don't need a server). Just connect to the Google Sync website on your phone after you've enabled it to give access to the device.

All the WiFi encryption protocols that you see on standard routers are supported. This is pretty standard for smartphones now-a-days.

Thanks man. Maybe I didn't clarify enough. I know the iphone works with exchanve via activesynce, and now it'll do remote wipe etc. My concern was with the android phones and integrating them with exchange. I read that google/microsoft have issues.

And the wifi stuff I was asking about because I can't get my 9700 connected to my wifi at home using wpa2 / tkip. Apparently its unsupported. I would have expected it to be very simple nowadays but that's not the case :S

Anyone can touch the OS of smartphones. Jailbreaking has become legal as of last month or so. Apple is trying to make it harder, but they know there's not much they can do.

DROID has always been pretty open for the owner to fuck around with it. So it really doesn't matter what you buy as long as it has the hardware already in the phone that you want to use.

I'm picking up the Verizon Fascinate when it comes out in a few days. It's Verizon's version of the Galaxy S by Samsung. It is supposed to be super fast and have great graphics. I am going to have to get used to the touchscreen keyboard. For some reason it is also missing a flash for its camera. Sprint seemed to get the better version of this phone (Epic 4G).
