I was checking out a new champ build for League of Legends, and one of the sites had an adsense ad for :

Ancient Black magic moon Spells witch craft voodoo magick witchcraft online wicca wiccan white curse hexes revenge hex how to remove art

A site which if you pay them money, they will "cast a magic spell" for you.

I was curious to see how these guys were allowed on adsense / paypal, so did some googling, and came up with:

Psyforums.com and Psychic-Source.com is a Scam: Psyforums.com is a Scam and Samantha www.venuslovespells.com and www.gay-lovespells.com scammed me out of $4000

A blog by some poor sap who paid several thousand dollars TWICE to get his boyfriend back (and failed). There are also comments about how others got caught.

My conclusion: just when you believe, you've seen how gullible people are on the internet, somebody buys a "magic spell" for $2000 via paypal off a website.

It makes me wonder why I go to the trouble of setting up a legit business when I could just claim to do magic and fleece fools.

EDIT: First one to launch a "gay love spell" rebill wins a prize.


2nd edit: reading the comments further, there are ones saying "I know professor jorge's magic is fake, but what about this other website ? should i pay them $1500". Double facepalm.

How about "Cast A Hex" on someone? Then they receive a letter saying an official hex/curse has been placed on them, etc. Would sure spook some people out there.

Then the rebill: you get them to pay later to remove the hex. Then a month later, they get another hex, etc.

This can just keep going on and on forever for some suckers out there.
 
Good upsell potential too...

someone emails you saysing "this isn't working, it's got worse"

You email them back saying "no, that means the magical resistance is high, but the cure will be total. Send me another 5K for another spell."
 
Outsource. You could probably get an entire village in some island nation to cast spells for you for like a carton of Marlboros.

I love the upsells. As soon as they complain the spell didn't work they claim the person has some sort of spell block on them and unless they order a spell block remover for another couple grand then not only will their original spell not work but their ex lover will get pregnant or something. Then when that doesn't work its because they have a hex from a past life and that has to be removed before cursing someone else. It's pretty awesome.

For the amoral, it's a dream.

I seriously doubt the FTC taking complaints about magic spells seriously. If nothing else, the Christian right would be at their throats.

You're right though, it would get depressing. I could also forsee a situation where you'd upset an already forlorn person so much that they might top themselves, which isn't something you'd want on your conscience.
