Mustread Without great risk, there is never great success

I posted the following article on my blog, but I also thought I would post it on wickedfire... If you enjoy the article, check out my blog..or help me out and digg it =)

“If you wait to do everything until you’re sure it’s right, you’ll probably never do much of anything”

I’ve found that very few people in this world have enough courage to step up and take risks in hope of achieving something truly great. We have become a society that likes to take the easy road, in life and in business. The average persons career can be summed up as the following… Go to school to get an education in a particular field or trade, get a job working for a large company that provides a feeling of security, work hard to move up in the company and hopefully reach the top, and eventually retire. Many people are still living according to this model, believing that they will be able to become wealthy if they work hard enough at it.

The reality is that the people who make the most money, and achieve the most in our society and the world in general, are the people on the front line, those who take risks and pioneer new concepts, ideas and technologies. Is it a coincidence that the internet is currently the hot, new place to be and the Forbes billionaires list is currently being overrun by people in the dot com business? I’ll let you decide.

Generally there are two types of people who call themselves entrepreneurs. The first type, the people that copy ideas, jump on bandwagons and join franchises, manage to get by, however they are never the ones that make it to the Forbes list.

Those that make it the list are the second type, and are very rare to come by. These entrepreneurs take serious risks, pioneer ideas others call crazy and impossible, however they are the ones that truly innovate and change the world. These are the people with true courage, and from this group the richest people in the world often emerge.

The point I’m trying to make is with almost anything rewarding, there will always be risk associated. To be successful with any venture you need to build up the courage to be truly innovative, and not be afraid to venture upon unfamiliar territory. Choosing security over taking risks that can eventually lead to greater rewards can often work against you.

The real question to ask yourself is which type of person are you?
