2. Don't give me the BS line about how if you don't go to school, you can't get a decent paying job. My family came from nothing, literally. 5 of us lived in a 20 foot travel trailer for 6 months eating ramen noodles and spaghetti. My dad doesn't have a degree. He dropped out of college after a semester. He worked his ass off and is now the VP of an aerospace company...all without a degree. Just because someone doesn't go to school doesn't mean that they have no opportunity. There is opportunity everywhere, it just takes some work (I know - sucks to have to work at something, huh? ) to make it happen. |

As a registered card carrying Libertarian, I can tell you we're the ONLY political party with a singular mission: The maximization of liberty, both personal and fiscal. That means that we are as economically laizze faire as a conservative republican, but as socially liberal as a left wing democrat. </political rant>

I had a lot of plans for my degree, and a lot of fall-back plans if I decided not to pursue a graduate degree. It IS that hard to find a job in a third-tier city with negative population growth and absolutely no way to move to a metropoliatn area. The managers at crap jobs won't hire you because you're overqualified, and the managers at decent companies won't hire you because officially you have no college credentials. For every success story like your father, there are ten more lives that didn't turn around even with hard work. It's a nice fairytale; that's why books like "The Secret" and other power-of-positive-thinking kits sell so well. ...By the way, I can win the sob-story contest, too. My dad was born on a third-world country in the middle of the Caribbean (where poverty literally means living in a shack made out of scrap tin and there's one main dirt road) and won the only scholarship off the island to have a free ride through Cambridge, UK. He then went on to teach at CalTech and works as a manager at a successful chem-engineering company. He works as hard and for as many hours as a typical CEO and gets paid less than a quarter of what they do. Even 'success' can be limited to one generation in our current economy. Oh, and he did most of that when being mutliracial meant he was 'black enough' to get called the n-word. Someone called him that as recently as the late nineties, but his 'fro is mostly gone, so he blends in better as 'white.' It's hard enough just worrying about fucking harassment as a woman without having to think about race. And yes, some fucktards even pull that shit on jobs as lowly as dorm crew; it's not just the office. Defining 'success' is a relative term. Please don't preach to me about the 'value' of hard work. He cancelled the kid's account. Shawn became establishment in that relationship, "the man". Who hasn't tried to get one over on the man? For those making the point of saying the kid pulled one over on Shawn so it was Shawn's turn, well that's different. Shawn didn't lose anything, yet still went after that kid. Who as a kid, even at college age didn't do some fucked up shit? That's why there's a separate judicial system for kids and why someone at college age would still most likely get treated differently in court than someone 35. Being smug about it and bragging online once is bad enough, but to do it again years later speaks volumes about who and what Shawn is... |

Boy Howdy! We are just wreaking havoc with affiliate managers here of late, aren't we?
Any other AMs wanna join the fray? Looks to me like the score so far this week is: WF - 2 AMs - ZEE-ROW!

Getting payback because someone try to robe you is one thing, putting a kid out of school is something else , and then bragging about it years later on your blog to show what kind of tough mofo you are to you newbie affiliates makes me want to puke in your face.

I personally would NEVER get a kid banned from college, I might break his legs, but getting him kicked out of college that’s pretty fucking low, though I also know being ripped off myself, its a shitty feeling and at that time I was willing to do anything for revenge, yes anything! If you rip me off and push me to far I am really capable of doing anything out of anger without thinking...
Im not supporting Shawn or the other guy, its just one of those things, NO ONE KNOWS, you were not there, you were not involved, it’s a personal thing, its just to bad Shawn had to bring this shit out in the open I personally would of kept it hush, hush and went after him myself for fucking me, but then again if I were that college kid I would have probably showed up on Shawn’s door step. So who the fuck knows and who the fuck really cares, I don’t, you don’t, so do yourself a favor and quit wasting your time. |

Most full drop outs happen because the student took a semester off. That aside, having a suspension mark on your student records is a very big deal. It makes it quite a bit harder to not only get your diploma(state universities have defacto student blacklists....oh yes they fuckin do). It makes it nearly impossible to get any good internships especially if you were a computer science major around 2001(you said he went to a technical institute), and it makes it more difficult to compete in the pregraduation job search. So yes a criminal record only hurts you if you get caught again, a student record has lasting consequences. I think any current college students will probably agree with me on that. When i was in college I once did something stupid and got arrested. It wasn't too big of a deal but you can guess what my number one concern was...not letting my school find out. I'm a firm believer that even the most hardened of criminals should at least have the opportunity to do something with their lives and make advancements in their own lives and education. Why would you blatantly try to destroy that opportunity for someone just because they did a little bit of torrent packaging? It just doesn't make a damn bit of sense. |

How did you deduce that he didn't commit a crime? True, he wasn't charged with a crime - that doesn't mean he didn't commit a crime. The reality is that you have no idea about the details here. In ten years managing affiliate programs, I've never had an issue of this magnitude with another affiliate. Let's just say he wasn't a choir boy. Quote:
And then to compound it by making threats to me and my family. He's not responsibile at all for his fate. He was a good boy. When you say "It just doesn't make a damn bit of sense," you are correct. Only knowing a fragment of the facts has a way of warping a story.

Haha, oh the drama... it just never ends around here does it? 'Blastyourass' reminds me of an Entourage character (season #3) where the guys get a surprise visit from an obnoxious childhood friend who just got out of prison. This guy is loud, in your face with lots of "I don't give a fuck" attitude... anyone watch that episode?
![]() Anyway, this thread is mis-labeled and never had anything to do with WF members but Blast spun it that way to get WF people behind him. Jesus, some here act like Shawn ruined this kids life.... the stupid kid did it to himself! He used school property to commit fraud. For those that think Shawn should have contacted the police instead of contacting the school...... who do you think the police would have ended up contacting anyway?? The kid is lucky to only get a short-term suspension. That is NOT worse than having a criminal record.

Keep your details. If he actually committed a crime I'm sure you wouldn't of failed to mention it.
Do we need a checklist? Distributing torrent file isn't a crime. password protecting a zip file within that torrent isn't a crime. Telling people to fill out an offer before getting the password, not a crime. Producing a low to no value lead to an advertiser is not a crime. Talking shit to you isn't a crime. Breaking your TOS is not a crime. Where is this fucking crime you speak of? Secondly, whether or not the kid was wrong for what he did isn't even the issue we're having. Of course he was wrong. He shouldn't of done that. Hell he even deserved some major pay back. Its the payback you dished out is what I'm having a problem with. You can read back through the other posts in this thread to get the specifics of it, but the point is you were wrong for what you did. It was low. It was despicable. Your parents should be the ones ashamed. |

In criminal law, fraud is the crime or offense of deliberately deceiving another in order to damage them – usually, to obtain property or services unjustly. [1] Fraud can be accomplished through the aid of forged objects. In the criminal law of common law jurisdictions it may be called "theft by deception," "larceny by trick," "larceny by fraud and deception" or something similar.

Hahaha. That was the best thing I've read in this thread so far.
![]() From what I understand, this incident happened back in 2001. So, the scammer kid got kicked out of college... but, fuck. That was six years ago. Hell, for all we know, he is a doctor by now. I'm sure you guys would be pretty fuckin pissed off if someone scammed you for $50k. Then again, you'd also be pissed off if you got kicked out of college. There is no winning side here. No one is right and no one is wrong. I think the kid AND Shawn are both fucking douchebags in their own way. But, overall, I think Jon should simply lock this thread. The whole fucking thread reeks of a Catch-22.
