Question Ever Forget About a Site ?

Have any of you ever forgotten about a site you built ? I was looking over some notes today and discovered a site I made a while back that completely slipped my mind.

Needless to say that bothered me. How do you guys keep track of your sites ?

I think I really need to get some kind of system in place so this doesn't happen again.

No just 4. I do have a lot on my plate. I just can't believe I completely forgot about this site.

My main question was "How do you keep track of your sites ?"

It was a magnificent moment filled with the warmth of excitement. After looking at the sight, he couldn't help but smile and feel his pants tighten from the ever growing bulge now swelling and drawing attention from everyone around him. As he stood up to make a manly arm thrust into the air to shout his superiority to the class, an orgasmic euphoria of sheer ecstasy erupted accompanying the crescendo of gasps as his juices glistened on the teacher's face. He was the man.

i built a page on my site 10 years ago offering a unique service in my business. 2 complete redo's of the site since then. That service was no longer offered as we originally had no takers.

Last Spring we got a call. Seems the page was never taken down, just not accessible from the newly revised site.

That call yielded a job worth thousands then went on to get 2 more jobs... 6 figures later and a resurrected business division...

Keep track of your sites!

My forgotten sites often do better in the serps and make more money than sites I put shit tons of time and money into. I've been in serious 'build mode' the last three years. I've built way too many sites to actively update and monitor. It's worth keeping them though because aged sites/aged links kick ass.

I had one site that I haven't touched in over a year, it's now topping the serps. I didn't know this until I got an email from a potential buyer. I called the guy and he offered me $5000 for the site. I turned down his offer thinking I can get more in the long run if I keep it. I've been working my ass off on the site and spending tons of time on the phone trying to sell advertising and leads. I've got it making almost $300/month now. Chump change considering the hours I spent in the last month or so. I know that once I give up and start investing in other projects that advertisers will be contacting me. Time to forget this site again.

Honestly, the less I work on a project, the better it seems to produce. Build, tweak, promote, give up, and forget.....then bank.

Funny as fuck you make this post...

Earlier today this happened to me and had the same feeling like I fucking forgot one of my children at the park or something. I was just FTPing into my server and looking at some sites and saw it and was like "n'oh my god" how could I forget. Needless to say I've got it open right now and I'm updating it/buying it an ice cream.

All my sites are listed under a single Analytics (Google) account, so it's kind of hard to forget if it's all in one big list.

It'll be even harder to forget what sites you had once Google audits your account and wipes out all your rankings. Good method!

Since Most of my domains are .net, I never forget about them because some Alex or Alexi is always reminding me to grab the .com version of the domain that they are going to put Auction.

It's like that rabbit in the shed that you forgot about. You run in one cool Fall day and find it a furry ball of writhing maggots, its poor paws mutilated by its efforts to free itself from the wire prison in which you left it. "I'll feed it every day!" you promised, but the green grasses of unexplored fields and bike rides with friends consumed all of your days until you finally remembered old Petey.

Except in this case, the rabbit's fine and shitting out dollar bills.

So you admit that all your ideas and sites together can fit on 1 whiteboard at the same time?

I only use 1 registrar now, just having gotten rid of NameCreep for good. So all of my 500+ domains are in one account, and any given day I will only think about 20 or so of them at most, leaving the other 480+ domains to be thought about in the future.

Life is good when you have forgotten many domains. Sounds like you have just taken your first step down that path.

Its a huge whiteboard and really I don't have many projects at all. I mostly do offline marketing and I have just started to go into IM for myself.
Most of my offline clients are just a few keywords, organic Seo and ppc management.

Did that for a few years, then decided to switch to Keepass.info for the login information, and also keep details in Evernote and use a tag to group all the sites together under one view when I want to check on them.
