Not trying to stir a controversial topic but I am just curious that how much does the race of the person matters to you? How many times have you faced it?

Freakonomics, Blink and Influence have all proved that racist biases exist -- There's no denying that. There are so many times when I see a sudden change in people's behavior when they know that I am an Indian. May I thank people like Barack Obama and John Kerry for it?

Though it has happened to me so many times that I've learnt how to ignore it and the person. It's easier to cut ties with that person because if a person doesn't respect you for who you are, there's no use in trying to change him or her.

And why am I writing it out? Yesterday, I saw the same change in a person I respected a lot and that hurt me real bad. And I really had to vent it out.

Anyway now I have it off my head. Care to share your experiences?

But hey, are you going to believe that Indians are actually more racist themselves? I live in the tourism capital of India -- Jaipur. We get so many foreign tourists here but still if you are white, you cannot enter some temples. Not all but some. And if you do by mistake, the temple priests will do rituals to purify the temple.

It is actually the way I speak and look that quite a few people don't initially think I am from India. And sometimes that is actually a bad thing for me like for example the Golf Club that I am a member at actually 'investigated' if I am not hiding my nationality to pay lesser membership fees.

There are whites and there are white trash. blacks and n*ggers, mexicans and sp!cks. Whites, blacks and mexicans are cool in my book. The others IMO do nothing but hurt their races stance in society and perpetuate the social problems. Each individual should get what they put into society.

What kind of bothers me is the reverse racism.
If your not a minority, you're pretty boned when trying to go to college, get a competitive job, start a business. But thats not what bugs me, its when you question it, people always bring up the whole "some ancestor with the same skin color as you, did something to an ancestor who has the same skin color as me." When the reality is, there isn't a single race that came to the united states that DIDN'T get completely screwed over (irish, italians, europeans included). In fact of all the bickering, the one group there seems to be the least backlash from is the chinese, when in reality they had it MUCH MUCH worse than everyone else. Slavery was NOTHING compared to what the united states did to the Chinese.
We literally had concentration camps for them. Yet, nothing from the media, where are their casinos and their scholarship programs?

First of all, my parents make white people so I'm a bit of an expert here. I've been one my entire life.

Racism against white people is VERY real... it's just that white people don't have a jesse jackson or an al sharpton to bring all sorts of media attention to it.

When white cops are accused of beating or shooting a non-white suspect or convicted criminal, it's instantly cause for discussion over "worsening race relations" and we get to watch lightbulb head Larry King dissect with Rev. Al Charlatan it for two weeks.

Ok racism? yeah it bothers me. I'm a whitey. I grew up around a lot of racist people. I always thought most people didn't care about race like me, but as i got older, that is definitely not the case. Motherfuckers are racist as shit.

I've gotten used to other people being racist, and I don't mind throwing out a racist joke or two. or three or four. But i try very hard not to judge people on their skin color or nationality... cause hey, even as a whitey I had my own share of racism from other whiteys.

And i still don't get why everyone hates the jews. what did they do that was so bad?

Its funny but being African, i get different end of the sticks here. More interest from white people and a lil bit of racism from african americans on so much presumption about me thinking i am better than they are. I kid you not. I really don't give a fuck, i was brought up with muslims, americans french,italians and a shitload of other sub tribes back in kenya. So i had diversity thrust into my face and i have way too many things to do and too little energy to waste worrying about other peoples races. Its just a waste of time for me,plus i have to let things go and fast otherwise i get stuck with the whole world moving around me. I drive a taxi around raleigh during weekends and tend to be a lil chatty and always get a very weird reaction, like wow you are talking to us since most of the drivers never even bother to take interest of the people they are ferrying around. I see alot, hear things i really dont want to hear within such a short period of time that i have learned not to be judgmental at all. I understand that sometimes we just have long tough weeks,so when someone comes into my ride whether white,black or latino and they are so pissy i dont judge them. Weird enough most of my clients are caucasian,white or whatever word is politically correct and boy i tell you thinking that cause i am african and going through challenging times,evaporates when people talk and tell me about their lives some are just getting married cause they are 30, others proposing and marring women they really dont like,some not wanting to get married even though having girlfriends for years... i can go on and on. Never let race bother and always shrug people who tend to be judgemental to you.I know its easier said than done but try having 20 personalities in one night,drunk talking(if not shouting) and just try, i mean try having time for racism.Bill bellick aint got nothing on me. Hope i didnt go too much off topic.

I try to love everyone and treat everyone equally, even if society doesn't, but have to admit I sub-consciously blame individuals for the actions of their governments and society.

So while I accept people for who they are, there's an tiny thing there saying "Stupid fuckin Americans" and "Murdering Israeli cunts..." - Completely illogical really as the ones I've met - the ones who've chosen to travel - are most likely the more open-minded people and less likely to support the racist and xenophobic policies of their governments.

In the same way I'm not too happy being English - considering what my country has done to the world, I understand why I would be judged on my nationality.

I do feel sorry for the average Muslim though - our great leaders have decided that they are the current enemy (gotta have one to keep the sheeple under control) and they are being treated like shit.

I don't feel bad at all and I think we need to begin aggressively profiling. I worked disaster relief with the red cross at ground zero after 9/11 before they had even finished counting the bodies, and terror cells have been broken up all around where I live, including the 9/11 hijackers who lived 5 minutes from me.

Now if there were a bunch of tall, tattooed Irish men trying to (and sometimes succeeding) murder countless thousands of American civilians, you can bet your ass that I'd be falling over myself to let the whole world know that I'm not one of them. I don't live where you live, but as for my country, where are the legions of American muslims denouncing terrorism? Why are the 6 men training to attack Fort Dix here in the US outed by a random department store clerk and not by another muslim who was concerned that these guys may be up to something?
