Probably the best thing I ever purchased for my health. (Philips HR 1861)
The difference in energy and focus is incredible. It's better than jack3d! So far I've juiced 10 carrots, 4 apples, oranges, a pear, a kiwi, spinach, some tomatoes, some berries, onions and garlic, and a potato. Onions will make you hornier: Onion juice triples testosterone levels feelsgood

Yeah man juicing is the way to go. I'm about to buy a Breville juicer. Have you seen Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead? It's on Netflix instant but it's on Vimeo too here: FAT, SICK and NEARLY DEAD - GRAS, BOLNAV SI APROAPE MORT (2010) on Vimeo Extremely good movie.

My roommate swears by juicing and it seems like pure awesomeness. However, would I not be able to get a similar level of nutrients from off the shelf 100% vegetable/fruit juice cocktails? They contain no preservatives and 8 ounces is a full serving of both fruit and veggies.

Juicing is where its at. Buy a Breville Elite. It is badass.
Here is my favorite: 2 parts Granny Smith + 2 parts Oranges (peel them!) + 1 part Peach = Nectar of Gods once you start witha tart fruit base, you can throw any fucking veggie in there and it tastes fine. its a great way to get a shitload of micronutrients because you don't fill up on all the pulp, fiber, etc. it makes you feel so good. i was going to post this in the ADD thread, but pill poppers aren't going to hear it. start juicing immediately. i second this. |

I had that Breville for a couple of months and realized I was throwing the bulk of all the fruits & veggies in the trash. Not getting the bulk of the fiber Ect. Swapped out to the Blend Tec and love it. Easy to clean, you get all the goodies and no waste + 1/8th the time. Just my 0.02
I'm not knocking the juicer, I loved juicing I'm just lazy and always in a hurry. Making up a good volume of juice every day + cleaning = a bowl of cereal for me after about a week. With the big bad blender I just throw a bunch of healthy stuff in there blend it up, drink it down, rinse. See ya! |

I bought a juicer last week and the first day I made a fruit/vegetable potion. It had plums, peaches, apples, carrots, and some kiwis. I drank a tall glass and later at night it felt like I was high almost, my brain was floating, it was very cool.

Juicing FTW.
I've been juicing at least twice a day + 95% raw diet for the past month and let me tell you, you will never go back again once you start. You feel fucking amazing all day long. You will feel so bomb at times you'll think you smoked something no joke. I still work a day job, and that's really the only negative thing I've experienced because I have so much extra energy now that I can't sit still at work. Other than that you'll experience intense focus, better mood, better sleep, less sleep needed, fast weight loss, more brain power. No more dull/cloudy/groggy feeling in the middle of the day. Edit: I had to edit my post when I saw Andrew's post above mine: I get the exact same thing when I go to sleep at night. I drink one in the morning when i wake up and one in the afternoon and every night when I lay down, after I've had my eyes closed for less than a minute I experience the bed rocking/swaying/floating and weird noises as well. I'm pretty sure it's just sleep paralysis but it shows how quickly you'll be able to fall asleep once you start living healthier and only giving your body 100% natural foods. |

+1 on the breville, I actually bought it before I watched fat sick and nearly dead.
just a tip. most of you prob wont like how pure veggies taste in a juice. you can add cilantro, ginger, peppers and/or tomato for some good flavors. if you just like fruit, throw some kale in there(you wont taste it with the fruit, trust me). Kale is one of the best things you can put in your body. Kale is no joke. Celery is pretty good too. also another tip. hit farmers markets. I actually go to a flea market once a week and get buckets of bruised mango for $1. The only bitch is slicing them. Quote:

What's everyone's juicing routine here? I know some people only do it like once a day, or 5 days out of the week then all solid food the weekend, etc. Do you use it as a meal replacement or how frequently do you juice?

If you juice a lot make sure to get the proper enzymes to coat your stomach. Chewing food helps to create those. A process which is skipped when you juice.
Got a Black and Decker Juice Extractor, nothing fancy but it works great. Use the carrot leftovers for carrot cakes or muffins when the munchies come on.

Not really using it as a meal replacement. Though I won't be popping any mega-dose multivitamins anymore. I go drinking and do drugs only on Mondays, so the cocktail is out then. Any suggestions for a stomach friendly hangover recovery juice recipe?

spinanch is a waste of time, you can juice a whole bag of spinach in the philips juicer and get like one teaspoon of juice, it's not efficient at all. Spinanch is perfect for the vitamix but no good for the juicer. I personally just got for the basic starter recpie. 1 large celery, one large cucumber, 3 pears, 4-6 carrots.

If you want a real juicer stop watching silly commercials and buy this: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=angel+juicer
the angel juicer can a large volume of juice out of just about anything. It works for juicing spinach and any other sort of green leafy things, along with carrots/beets etc. The downside is it is a lot slower and harder to clean than many other juicers. |

Once you get apples and other juices covering it up it tastes excellent, no problem at all.

Cool movie. I've been considering getting a juicer for a while just because bitches like juice, but this might be the kick in the ass I needed to actually go for it.

Apple and Kale juice is my favorite, but since you need 60% Veggies, I try to add stuff like cucumbers (has a less sweet taste of watermelon juice), parsley, spinach, etc. I definitely feel much better after drinking juice. |

It's best to drink the juice within 24 hours, but better to drink it as quickly as possible. It becomes oxidized and loses it's antioxidants and overall nutritional value rather quickly, so drinking it 2-3 days later is like drinking mostly water, unfortunately. And since the whole point is about getting as many nutrients as possible, it really doesn't work out so well. Also, do you use a plastic bag in the juicer's container? Can't think of the name lol I found that it helps save a few minutes of cleaning up, and makes it a lot less messy in the trash. |

Very nice. As for juicing more than one serving at once, I've tried that. But drinking something that's been juiced a several hours ago, you taste a difference for sure. It starts tasting rotten after a day or two in the refrigerator.

To bad the bitch doesn't know how to use the Vitamix blender the correct way. You are supposed to start the dial on 1 then quickly move it to 10, then flip on the 'high' switch. It's no wonder that the blendtec did better in that video, it was on 'high' from the get-go. +1 for Vitamix! Use it everyday and love it, so much better than a juicer!

If any of you start juicing on a regular basis I would suggest you invest in a more efficient juicer like a Omega Vert, takes a bit longer but the pulp is bone dry. Centrifugal juicers tend to waste a lot and get hot. By the way you guys saying smoothies are better than juices, you do realise that is the whole point of juices you take the fiber out so the body doesn't have to break anything down. Another reason is you can't sit and eat a bowl of spinach, six carrots and two apples in a sitting but you can defiantly drink them. Not saying one is better than the other but it is pointless to compare the two.

Holy shit a juicing thread on WF lol...I haven't started juicing full time yet but since going vegan 6 months ago I've looked into it quite a bit.
Firstly, some of the healthiest stuff to juice is greens. Kale, collard greens, spinach, wheatgrass, etc.. I just had my first wheatgrass shot last week and I swear I thought I smoked a bag of grass or something after a few hours. I started giggling like a retard at one point and was like wtf is this shit. That's how good it makes you feel. I need to either start growing my own when I decide on a juicer or order some flash frozen. Do not buy the shitty pasteurized ones, juices or powders. If it's not fresh, especially for wheatgrass, it's shit. Also try to buy organic. Or at least, check this list for some of the dirtier and cleaner non-organic foods: Executive Summary | EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides | Environmental Working Group | EWG.org DO NOT get one of those shitty centrifugal juicers that rotate at high RPMs. They cause a lot of heat and end up killing the enzymes (in short without getting scientific on you). I actually made that mistake and ended up with a shitty one for now. If you want to get the most juice out of greens especially, a masticating juicer is a must. From my rather intensive research so far, it's almost impossible to get the perfect juicer. You need to figure out what you'll be juicing most and go from there. Some are better for fruits, some better for veggies and some best for greens. Check out this guy on youtube for some comparisons of different juicers. I'm probably going to go for an Omega J8006 or the Omega Vert 350HD. And if anyone wants to see what kind of magic juice is capable of, see here (this is not a 1 off story, I come across similar stories non-stop when researching raw/juicing):

Now drinking: 6 carrots, 2 apples, 1 orange, 1 onion, 2 garlic bulbs, 2 tomatoes.
Tastes pretty good... As for spinach yes these kind of juicers suck, but if you put a lot in you get about a cup.
