There were multiple stories on the BBC news.

He was either shot in the legs, shot in the stomach, captured and then killed, brought back to his home town or he's being held hostage.

It's all speculation at this moment in time.

Would you support the American Federal Government drilling lots of oil, and using the proceeds for universal healthcare? If not, why not? How would it be different to Gaddafi's Libya?

Hate to burst the Go USA bubble but it was the NTC fighters that caught/killed him after Gaddaffi tried to make a run from his home town Sirte. It was a NATO aircraft (French) that bombed his convey which led to this.

And for the record the UK/French military have made the most sortes over Libya.

Libya had an export driven economy. Furthermore they produced more than they used. We however, use more than we produce. If we had excess fuel to sell to other countries I would definitely have no problem with that.

In staid of the government gobbling up this money they gave it back to the people in terms of health care, houses, cars, food, ect...

Even if we wanted to we couldn't do that as we don't really produce exports like we once did.

And it's not gonna ramp up. North America is awash in shale oil, that's why they are trying to build pipelines all over North America. So oil/natural gas can get shipped to thirsty China from North America.

N/S Dakota has enough oil to supply the US for about 30 years easily. And they are gonna do that by 2020.
