I have this blog that I've neglected for a couple of weeks now and what to I come back to? About twenty posts that weren't mine, half were filled with spam and the rest were emails I've received which was really weird!

After looking it didn't start until two Russian emails were used to register so I blame them.

Thought I would share 'cause I can't figure out how emails of mine were posted.

By any chance were you using an old version of WP? I had my server compromised due to Security Holes in WP.

And, by any chance were you using same password for your mail account as for your hosting account / database you used for your blog?

I have 2.1.2 up on this site and no I don't use the same ids or passwords anywhere.

Not sure how they did it, looks to me it had something to do with the post by email.

I disabled everything and changed my email password that I used.

You should at least ask them to give you a matrioshka.

Gary Conn had this happen to him, so you can go read about it at Blogging Tips That Make Money Online just to double check if it was the same issue.

He mentions that there's an iframe in his site which might install spyware. Just a warning :-)

Russians hijacking blogs ? I thought they'd just hijack affiliate codes with spyware via spam on .edu sites

Nope it wasn't that, it had to do with posting via email. I change all login/passwords and my email hosting said my email doesn't appear to have been accessed by anyone else.

Anyway what ever they did was brilliant in it's own right. I just thought conversions drop due to my lack of updates.
