I just tuned in and heard some vote went 20-6 or so in favor of the "neys". Not sure if this was about SOPA or some other bill.

Not sure where they are at today, but I know they were adding a bunch of amendments yesterday, and that's why the meeting dragged on to today.

I'm all for amendments if they actually "help" us, but if they are anything like the multiple revisions of this thing where it keeps getting worse, no.

Honestly, why isn't Congress spending their time dealing with our debt and budget that they can't reach an agreement on instead of killing their source of income? Fucking retards.

Most of the amendments are in our favor. Issa seems to have a stack like 2 feet thick.

Yeh, they seem to be really limiting the power of the bill, so if most of them get passed, it might not be as bad (although still bad) as originally thought. I called to talked to the assistant of my rep that's on judiciary committee and he seemed to think that it wouldn't even pass committee if the worst parts of the bill aren't removed. I guess we'll see.

Meeting adjourned.

Looks like they want another meeting to hear from experts on the problems of cybersecurity that would result from this bill.

Didn't hear when this would be.

Thank God. Let's hope that once these start, they realize they're in over their heads and prolong this out until it's even better for the Internet and IM than the DMCA.

Good news on this (supposedly)- the house judiciary committee has suspended its plans to reconvene and vote on SOPA until after the winter break.

Hopefully this is true.

RafaelB has a spectacular aura about
SOPA bill

I cannot blame anybody (except the one who created the sites) for doing this act because dishonestly obtained products are widely available online. It is really difficult to remove it and I know there are a lot of people who patronize this kind of downloading (most especially songs) because of the fact that it is free and affordable. But the US government now has made a bill with regards to this matter. The SOPA bill is intended to make these materials less obtainable, a fact that customers of the Congressional web connection appear to be reacting to by downloading more unlawful material. It is meant to make copyright protections in the United States better, but there are several opponents of the bill. Some of these opponents have found that Congressional online connections have been used to download illegally acquired products.Resource for this article: Congress supports SOPA while illegally downloading self-help books
Anything that we acquired free which is not supposed to be is not right but when we look at other hand, it still has an advantage because it helps the artist be known for her/ his music because it spreads easily due to this downloading sites, isn't it? And if ever this bill will be approved, they should also keep an eye with their people in the government, then it will be fair for everyone. But honestly, I don't want this bill.
