I'm having a hard time choosing between these words...
Which of these word is the most "impactful" or the most intense in terms of emotions. 1. Invoke 2. Implore 3. Beseech They are all synonyms btw. Thanks for the responses. |

None of those words really shout out 'impact' to me, simply because of their meaning.
They are all words which are used in context with 'asking' or 'begging' someone to do something. I invoke the spirit to help me along my path, i implore you to lend me money or i will starve, i beseech you to take your member out of my anus. They don't really cry out impact to me. Apart from maybe the last one, but thats a pun that was never intended.

If you're writing to 99% of the population I wouldn't make them work too hard at comprehending "beseech" or "implore".
"Invoke" may be stretching it. WTF is the context, and who are you writing to? Write like you talk. I rarely hear any of those words used in casual conversation.

These words and their typical usage.
Implore. (I think this is the one you want.) """I implore you, don't tell your girlfriend how you really feel - you will regret it. Mark my words.""" ----------- Invoke. (Not the one.) """I invoke the 'Joe-DiMaggio-hit-safely-in-56-games' mental mantra when fucking my girlfriend to make it through the one minute marathon.""" ---------- Beseech. (Not the one.) """Why must I beseech my girlfriend with platitudes to get sex? Why can't she just get horny like I do?""" ----------- Cunt. (Possibly the one.) """My girlfriend is a cunt.""" You must write from the heart, my friend. |
