I have a PDF file with both an owner password and a user password. I know the user password, but I need to edit this PDF file which is a locked out option because of the owner password.
All the software I've found to edit when there is an owner password seems to crash because of the user password (the encryption I'm guessing), and I can't find any that will allow me to input my user password in order to remove the owner. Any advice? I'm running brute force for now, but the user PW is 11 char and I'm sure the owner is at least that long... Here is for your efforts, and more on delivery of working solution: ![]() ![]()

Here's how you'd do it if you have Adobe Acrobat. If you have any other type of pdf compiler, read between the lines and make adjustments.
Open your pdf in any pdf reader with your user password. On the top menu bar, select file> print and select Acrobat Distiller. Mash the print button. Close your pdf, open up Acrobat and go to file> open> program files> Adobe> PDF Output, then find the pdf you just printed and open it. Select file> save as> and at the bottom of the box that pops open, is a security settings box. Select none and save the file with a new name. Make your edits and resave it, with a new password, if you want. Now then, bobbies for all my friends!

Guaranteed recovery for 40-bit encryption (takes a few days)
Using pre-computed hash tables (takes a few minutes; 99.9% probability) I think I used this once and it was pretty fast. I'd give it a try (see torrent and demonoid or mininova). or try PDF Password Remover - pdf password recovery software (decrypt pdf, remove pdf password) GuaPDF - a program to remove PDF passwords and restrictions The PDF-Analyzer . . . How it works How does PDF password recovery work? Hope this helps.
