I have approximately 1,400 names and addresses of recent college graduates. Do I need some form of consent in order to send out direct mail? The addresses were obtained through old high school records.

you say 'recent college graduates'. are you assuming that each person is graduating in 4 years since you said your pulling from high school records?

i, for one, know that ill be in college 5-5 1/2 yrs total so you might want to take that into consideration

I'm not worried about that. The question here is - is this legal?

Hi Stan. Yeah, it's legal. You don't need any permission to send out snail mail ads.

The guy who wrote 12 month millionaire never said anything about seeking permission.

There is no "Do Not Mail" List if you are thinking on the lines of "Do No Call List

Why would it be illegal? Unlike email spam, the government actually gets a CUT of this money (think USPS).

Not unless you have your own mail delivery men and trucks. Think about it. The Chinese food places and supermarkets have been doing it for decades. Higher a few bum kids to give out carefully crafted mortgage flyers/ringtone flyers. Can easily do 4000 homes in a day in a few neighborhoods in NYC.

I think you misread my post. I believe it's completely legal to send out snail mailings. The government is getting their cut of the money (via postage fees), so why would they care?
