Also, who has a recommendation for a good off shore VPN company. Maybe something in Russia or China perhaps??? I'm sure there's bullet proof VPN somewhere already.

No logs, no personal details on signup, anon payment with ukash,PSC or pre paid CC. If you are concerned with privacy and anonymity, they are top notch. If all you want/need is a secure way to torrent,it may be too slow; probly all VPNs are if you dont setup your own vpn server. |

If this isn't a law, it seems like this would be a great opportunity for a competing ISP to seize a huge amount of market share by advertising that Verizon/Comcast/etc are spying you and they aren't.
Problem is, they would probably be overrun with people switching to them and they wouldn't be able to support the traffic. |

I don't understand this really. I mean with Peer Blocker and forced encryption in uTorrent, why do you need a VPN? I've been doing it this way for years and I've never received a warning or a C&D.

Well peerblocker is nearly useless, but forced encryption should work, as well as sticking to private trackers (no, not shitty "private" trackers like demonoid). The only people who get caught are the idiots who download extremely popular torrents off piratebay with no encryption and leave it seeding forever.

Copyright is the justification they'll use to clamp down. Interesting how they use the ISP's themselves as their private Internet cops. For those of you thinking you can evade this latest development, you might be the last ones, but they'll still get you in the end.

I'm probably more likely to die in an automobile accident or get struck by lightning than to get fined for downloading torrents...I'm willing to take those odds. The measures they are taking to stop people from downloading copyrighted material is all based on fear. A few good men will die in the process, but if we all keep downloading we'll all be fine.

who gives a fuck? here is an answer: stop downloading fucking hacked apps that dont work that contain virii and you should be paying for anyway, and purchase your music and movies like everyone else. is this a fucking warez forum?
"AMERICANS do something quick" <--------how about everyone stop stealing music, movies and applications and these American government organizations will loosen up a little bit. that is the answer! yes lets all start a movement to petition the government to allow us to steal thousands of dollars worth of shit "so i can have it on my ipad" |

But no, you have a point but put the torpedo back where it came from. To me, this is a bigger issue than that. It's an enabling action essentially "enabling" our government to start controlling our accessibility to the internet. I'll be the first to tell hellblazer he's crazy, but in this instance I truly believe this is just a mutually beneficial reason for the government to start getting their grubby hands on our dirty little playground. It might be a cesspool, but it's MY cesspool. |

Sigh, Time to get a VPN, but I'm not sure where but I just recently read that the NSA is building a supercomputer that will record just about every single action you make on the internet, also has the ability to decrypt and read all emails.

I think they've had that for a while. Echelon got a lot of press years ago but it's not like they stopped developing after that. Son of Echelon or grandson of Echelon is certainly churning away.

It seems like the government has been pulling this card a lot lately. When they can't get something passed, they create some law that everybody would vote for (ie law against online pedophiles act) and then slip their bullshit into it. In the past few months, I can think of at least 4 or 5 "laws" where this seems to be the case. I'm not sure if they have always done things this way or if I'm just starting to recognize it.

i am sorry to bust the bubble but VPN packets can be analyzed. I worked for a client very recently to unblock their services in one of the countries, the smartass guys figured out the VPN tunnel and started dropping packets so badly that its almost impossible to actually use it. Get the idea? They will hammer down your internet to a state where you can't send a fucking packet over your VPN

I could just setup another box to torrent day and night on my neighbors internet for lulz they can't even really catch you can they? What is the legality if their wifi has no password at all cause there's one nearby too. I remember seeing some pendrive distro where you can track the reverse signal of the person stealing your wifi but fuck I doubt the cops here would have the IQ to use that shit. |

I don't think VPN is really going to work. I have a cousin-in-law working at a company that builds tools for ISPs to do deep packet inspection even on encrypted data. I have no idea how the technology works, but let's say I was shocked when he told me what he was working on. He was telling me that ISPs are already implementing this technology into their systems.
Details on the company: http://www.proceranetworks.com/en/cable-operators.html "PacketLogic solutions provide deep packet inspection capabilities that allow highly accurate identification of network traffic such as file sharing, streaming video (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu), Skype and others – even if these applications use port-hopping, encryption, masking or other behaviors to hide their identity." |
