Currently using a Brita filter but I've heard that it doesn't filter out heavy metals and fluoride so I'm looking into alternatives. For those here who use a RO system, can you really taste a difference in the water?

No experience with reverse osmosis but I've been scoping out some gravity feed systems like this one:

Anyone have any experience with them?

I had a RO system for the longest time while I was in Arizona, and I could totally taste a difference. It definitely tastes different.

This may sound weird, but we actually went to a store that had a RO system and we took a cup of our water from home. Did a small taste test. If you know somewhere that has a system, you can do something like that.

britas are for peasants, get a commercial grade system - the kind that the windowcleaners use to clean windows.

comes out at the same pressure your tap is running at, not some slow brita shit

$1,650 can get you a good setup. its worth it, and you can go outside and clean your windows afterward. or charge your neighbor $300 to wash his windows.

go on amazon and for $25 look for a TDS meter, or from that windowcleaning website i posted. it measures the solvents in the water, a typical reading is 300 for normal tap water.
the RO systems are designed to take the readings down to 0, thats when u know u have pure water. That tds meter can give you that info.

I personally don't like the taste of RO water. It has no minerals in it and almost seems to dry out my mouth as odd as that sounds.
Not sure if different RO systems would taste better but I tried store bought Culligan RO water.

But how does that thing fit in your fridge?

I'm looking into something like this that will fit under my sink that'll give me clean water all the time. I'm through with filling up storage containers day after day.

It doesn't. You set it on your counter. I always have a insulated stainless steel bottle with ice in it already, it doesn't have to be cold IMHO.

Also an RO system is going to be room temp a well.

Also, I was looking at the same RO unit.

I have a similar system and its installed in my basement and ran to spigot next the kitchen sink as well as to the fridge for water / ice. Can definitely taste the difference

I ran it through my floorboards and drilled under the cabinets / behind the fridge to get it up into the kitchen. I can take pics if anyone really wants to see the setup

You can piss into your RO system and it will filter out the water. Do this enough, and the RO system literally pays for itself.

just piss into your mouth directly and yourself literally pays for itself...

the RO filter and resin contained in the DI filter have a life expectancy,
piss in it and you make the filters work 10 times as hard to filter the liquid
thus shortening the amount of time till your next replacements.

im telling you guys, get the tds meter, you can literally walk around town and measure the levels in any water source.

- pure water is measured at 0

-the refill stations in a store give you between 10-20 which is really good, not pure but really good.

- if your home tap water is measured at 200 then the brita will only
filter it down 10%, so brita water will be 190, which is shit.

Brita is a taste and odor filter and does little for TDS, so yeah, brita is a good decoration for your garbage can, or should I say a product for the sheeple.

I have Reverse Osmosis water filter system here. Makes water taste a lot bitter but once you get used to it ( takes at least a week) it becomes fine. But once you get used to RO water, you can easily spot change when you are drinking non-RO water.

In my earlier life I was a master licensed plumber. I've installed Miles of water mains. If you saw the inside of a city water main main you'd never drink tap water again. Having said that I hate the taste of filtered water - so fuck it. I put those bitches in and I'm drinking that shit straight up. No one gets out alive anyway.

Oh btw: I never drink from a water cooler, or inside any Industrial / commercial manufacturing facility Nothing that used their water like soda machines at hospitals etc - NFW - I've seen so many illegal connections over the years done by fuctards that work for the plant / hospital. New buildings - uh uh, not me... those pipes were Never Flushed out after install in most cases.

I never use a urinal either - that stuff splashing on you is PISS from that last 1000 dudes that used it. Those fixtures are Foul in my opinion and experience.
