If you don't go to noisy place, bose's earplug's sound quality is amazing.
Amazon.com: BOSE (R) In-Ear Stereo Headphones: Electronics

however you can't hears anything if you use it in noisy place like in New York's subway cause there are no noise canceling feature

DirSP has a spectacular aura about
I use a Sony EX85SL AudioCubes.com - Sony MDR-EX85SL N.U.D.E EX (Monitor) Earphones -

Comparable to shure e3 or something, but cheaper by almost half. Best place for earbud is at AudioCubes.com - Earphones

Look nowhere else :P. (Personal recommendation, no affiliate link :P)

Works like magic . Subway - 85%, but when crank up volume above middle, you can't hear anything from subway. Street - 100%.

I considered going the "in-ear bud" route, but I do a lot of running outside in Toronto. Kinda thinking it might be suicide to be completely incased in the sound with no sense of my surroundings. That said, I'm know I'm missing out on the sound quality...

I heard those Etymotic 6isolator that Stanley said were badass though.

I have some Magnavox ones from target. I think they were 6.99. They work like a charm.

I had some griffin earthumps and they worked awesome, all you hear is the music in noisy places..deep bass, and just overall good sound..cheap too.
