Fuck Windows XP Folder Fuck up! [HELP!]

Alright,

I messed up and I kinda did it too randomly.

I had this folder with a collection of some reference material on event management. While playing about with it, I hid the folder and it went poof! I went to the Tools >> Folder Options >> View and selected Show hidden folders! But Nothing!

Now I did a system restore to something two days ago, the folder is visible now, it shows it's size (76 MB) and the internal files when you hover over it, but when I enter the folder it is blank!

I again tried the Tools >> Folder Options >> View and select Show hidden folders thing, but nothing happens!

Quite irritated at the moment, can someone help ?

can you use ms-dos to see the file?

type cmd in Run to get the dos. Move to the folder and do a listing. If it is not showing that mean they are gone. If they are there do a copy to another dir. In case you don't know how to use command line
Basic overview of MS-DOS commands.

Quote:
Windows XP
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click On
maybe try restarting after this, or once you can see the folder, right click and unhide it or it's contents. Try that. Maybe the actual folder is visible, but it's contents are still hidden

XP doesn't have ms-dos. It was built on the NT kernel. It does however contain a command line based program which can be used to execute similar commands. That list of commands won't all work on XP.

Just sayin'.

Go to tools > folder option>> view and uncheck the option hide protected operating system files.
May be something shows up after that.

Yes Sir. I have read Op's post clearly.
Please re-read his post and my post again. (I am asking him to show hidden files and windows protected file, both)

If nothing works then no harm in trying my rubbish idea as well.

I think it cud be a profile problem or an OS problem.

If its a Profile problem then go on n create another profile or access it from another profile. However is its Operating System Problem try accessing from safe mode n see if you can view it from their.

Just trying, am not any Genius.
