If you're headed to ASW, here're a few tips:

1) Vegas Throat: on account of being in the desert, the air is really dry and most coming from out-of-state might lose their voice after a day or so, especially if you're shouting at each other to be heard in the clubs.

Lozenges are great for this, and drink lots of water.

2) Sneakers or sports shoes are great, cos you'll be walking around the hall a lot, epecially if you're not going for many of the seminar sessions.

3) take the bus shuttle outside the terminal, i think it's $7 per trip and goes to all the hotels, compared to about $20 for a taxi ride for a tour of the city.

4) there's a coupon book you can buy online which gives you meal discounts, show discounts if you like. google for it online, although a number of people have bought it, i haven't myself...

5) i think it'll be still chilly next week, so you might like to bring a light jacket, especially if you're walking around at night.

6) there's a new shopping mall, old town square shopping mall which opened in december, so if you'd like to do some shopping (especially for those travelling in from outside the US, you can get some retail therapy there).

Else, you could go order your overstock, amazon, buy.com, bizrate stuff and just send it all to the hotel (dropping them a friendly email saying you've got a couple of containers of stuff coming in....)

7) go for an afternoon snooze, especially if you might be staying up till 4am for the parties...

8) make sure you've got enough space to carry all your schwag back. an extra foldable bag might be useful. I usually don't carry all the t-shirts myself (unless there's a WF one out - assuming it's not coming out on christmas) and just take the electronic toys, flash drives and cool stuff instead.

9) if it helps, you can sleep 10-12 hours on fri/sat, and not sleep at all the entire time you're in vegas, or maybe 2-3 hours a day while you're there...

10) even if you have merchants and networks bringing you out to dinner and afterhours entertainment, you might want to bring an extra couple hundred bucks more than what you intended....vegas has a tendency to swallow up all your spare change...

I personally recommend the T-Bone at the Gold Coast which is right next door.

Additional tips from a resident:

- Definitely the shuttle bus.

- Also, if you see a What's On magazine, grab it. It has loads of good info in the back regarding shopping, dining, and FREE things to do. You should see a magazine display somewhere around the Rio for these....they're FREE.

- Join the slot club. It's FREE and the card and lanyard make a great souvenir. You also get free swag sometimes with these...t-shirts, playing cards, dice, etc. In addition, you sometimes get meal discounts etc. It's a must if you plan to gamble at all.

- Off-strip is better.

- You can get same night 1/2 price show tickets from Tix4Tonight.
Las Vegas shows half price tickets at Tix4Tonight 877-TIX-4TNT

- If you are looking for Las Vegas souvenirs, don't buy them at the Casino. You can get the same, exact cheap shit at a Walgreens or Wal-fucking-Mart for that matter.

then, again, when me and some other people were looking for a place to grab a good lunch, i somehow remembered his gold coast rec... which was an EPIC FAIL.

Yeah you could take the greyhound to get there as well but just like the shuttle you'd have to make 100 stops and only save a couple bucks. People get off your fuckin wallets. Ok, well I took a cab everywhere, was pretty quick and i hate public busses. Gold coast is fuckin awesome, I stayed in the hotel and had a great time. I hate staying at really high class places cause that's not where I come from and not what I'm used to. Gold coast has nice food and nice people workin there, and is just ghetto enough to be keepin it real.

Next time I'm actually renting a car, fuck taking cabs everywhere, tbh.

Strip Club = Club Paradise - Across from HardRock . .. Awesome . Easy way to spend a night. Then back to Hard Rock's Mr. Lucky's for Breakfast.
Cheetahs == Okay, but you have to go - We used to call it FLA when speaking about plans when the female persuasion was present.

And then there's this little place called the Tally Ho where they have lazy boys upstairs, to you know, sit on while the girls dance.

I agree with CorrectAd, Shuttles in Vegas are a fucking waste of time. Last time it took me 1.5hrs to get to my hotel, the clueless driver drove to all the shit holes first .. So that was my last time, now its cabs all the way. Plus really, you save like $6. If one is that strapped for cash, I would probably recommend earning some money first.
