Help Clickbooth is picking on me

Guys, I need some help.
I thought the Wickedfire/Clickbooth lawsuit would make a good topic for one of my blogs. I wrote about it a few days ago, and today I get an email telling me to take it down.
Quote:
The aforementioned post’s content contains defamatory statements referencing
Clickbooth and its owner, John Lemp. The information throughout the post is
considered libelous, and legal action has already been taken against another
such individual publishing similar statements.
I'm just a poor college student. I don't have the means to stand up to these guys. I could really use some advice right now.

Here's the post in question:

Here's the whole thing:

Quote:
Good afternoon,

It has been brought to our attention that a post titled “Don’t Do Business
with Clickbooth” was recently created regarding the performance-based network,
Clickbooth.com. It was posted March 9, 2008.

The aforementioned post’s content contains defamatory statements referencing
Clickbooth and its owner, John Lemp. The information throughout the post is
considered libelous, and legal action has already been taken against another
such individual publishing similar statements.

We consider libelous and defamatory statements to be an extremely serious
violation as they harm the Clickbooth brand, John Lemp, and all Clickbooth
advertisers and publishers. We must take all the necessary steps to protect not
only ourselves, but also our partners against such fallacious statements and
misrepresentations which have been made to intentionally harm the goodwill of
our company and the character of Mr. Lemp.

Clickbooth greatly appreciates its relationships with publishers and
advertisers, and we fully stand behind the quality our network has to offer. We
care about our reputation within the industry and wish to do all that we can to
protect it. We are a long-term organization that strives to make partners happy
and keep them that way. We couldn’t remain as successful as we have
otherwise.

We wanted to touch base with you and express our concern regarding these
comments. We are asking that you please remove the post in question. We are
also certainly more than willing to work with you in order to help you better
understand the issues at hand.

Please let us know your thoughts and how you intend to proceed regarding this
post. We look forward to hearing from you.

Dont be scared, granted your post is a persuasive one to deter sign-ups from ClickBooth, you are only stating facts, and throwing your opinion in there.

You say, "The general tone of the thread suggests that if you do business with them, you shouldn’t expect to be paid."

You are not saying if you sign up you WILL NOT BE PAID

There is a difference

It seems now these pussies are taking whacks at anyone and everyone who has something to say about them.

Classic John Lemp scare tactics, its the only thing the fucking douchebag has.

Reply with a rick roll or something, fuck em

1. None
2. Also none.
3. His balls are backed with dollars and lawyers, and mine aren't.

Honestly, they can't do shit to you for this. You're just reporting, nothing else. Throw in a few 'according to' and you will be fine.

Just ignore him or reply with a rick roll.

Forget all the 'Stand up to them' bullshit, you are not in a position finacially to do it.

If I was a student & in your exact position, then I would take down the post, regardless or whether it is or isn't libelous or slanderous, it just isn't worth the risk or stress.

It's already been established he hasn't done anything wrong. The problem is clickbooth is using bullying tactics to force him to take it down, knowing he can't/won't be able to force them to take it to court.

You can a) call their bluf and hope you don't end up in court
or b) take it down.

If they do sue, make sure you countersue.

I totally agree, but reality check: since we all know they can't do anything to Jon, I wonder who they will be going after? Just for fun? Like that 12 year old the FBI busted for downloading music.
But fight the good fight !

I'm a bit too hardheaded for that I'm afraid. To each his own I guess. I vote keep it up, and get a paypal donation fund if it looks like they're going to follow through.

I'm thinking you're right. I'll just take it down.

Good luck to the people who are standing up to these guys, counter-sue their asses off.

I saved it before taking it down, so I might do that later.

I feel like shit giving in to these guys, but I'm just not in a position to deal with a lawsuit right now.

You idiot! They aren't going to do jack shit. Even if they do, they've got nothing.

I guess it matches your 'cant get rich' mentality.

I got it, too!

For this post:

WickedFire.com is Getting Sued | Blogosis

I will not take it down. They want to sue me? They better find a way to drag me out of Thailand. Bull shit. Don't worry... they are just trying to bully the fuck around with us.

If they can find a way around the first amendment, then you might have something to worry about.
