Roth's a douchebag - success went to his head. Hagar did what he could and certainly contributed to whatever continued success they may have had. I lost interest after the first album. "Ain't talkin' 'bout love" is their best song ever.

No seriously, Hagar and VH did some good stuff together; it just lacked the raw energy of the early stuff and gets an bad rap.

Hey, total tangent: anyone know if it's true that Van Halen offered the singing position to Patti Smyth (of Scandal) when Roth first left? It says so on her Wikipedia page, which sort of blows my mind. I like Patti Smyth and all that but as the lead singer of Van Halen?
