Wfexclusive Why affiliates are the place to be: Part 1

First of all, read this: Why we are bitches of the industry.

aim gave 3 reasons as to why being an affiliate sucked and we should be all depressed and give up or something...

basically aim said: 1) we are the bottom of the pyramid
2) we are only here for our creativity and see how well we can market used crap

Now, here is why we, as affiliates, are right where we want to be.

well, here is what I have say:
1) we may be at the bottom of the pyramid, but when an affiliate succeeds, he can feel proud about himself because he has achieved in a "over-saturated" market... doing something that the top tier affiliates who had the first chance, couldnt do.

part 2 will come as soon after aim writes his part 2.

this isnt a diss against aims guide, it is actually interesting, but I just want to toss around some motivation as well.

Personally, I couldn't care less for feel-good crap. "Satisfaction of a job well done." Uh, no. Talk about being a pussy.

"Satisfaction of a large bank statement."

That I can appreciate.

I'm not saying that affiliates are at the bottom of the totem pole, nor are we at the top. However, there are a number of reasons why it's a good position to be in. I'm super exhausted, but here's what I can come up with:
  • No inventory (physical items).
  • Depending on the advertising method, we usually have much lower costs than the advertiser.
  • The "mercenary for hire" effect. Payout at network Y too low? Go to network X. Network Y decides they want your traffic. Network Y offers a higher payout. etc.
  • We are self employed. This means if we want to work at three in the morning in our underwear, we damn well can.
  • We can be in as many niches as we want. It's possible to sell Christian inspiration books while you're pushing the latest "teen anal destroyers XVII" DVD.
  • Many of us, had we not discovered AM, would be pushing pencils at shit office jobs. I was.
Those are all examples of why Affiliate Marketing is a great industry to be in, despite its faults (and you're stupid if you think that this business isn't in a constant state of evolution).

It's certainly not "feeling good about accomplishing something nice." I accomplish something nice in the bathroom every morning after I have a cup of coffee and a cigarette, but it sure as fuck doesn't pay my bills.

Huh, I must have missed the word money in there. I just saw a lot of goody gumdrop self help book type concepts...my bad.

The idea in aim's post is that the top tier affiliates ARE the saturated market.

Boys, this is just an issue of semantics...

elime, you're obviously getting satisfaction out of your big bank account. Personally, I never understood the drive to make more money than you can use, but I can appreciate that that's what drives people.
The point Rascagua is trying to make is that you're satisfied with what it is you're doing as, for you, the end result is a big arse bank statement.

Personally, I agree with both this and aims posts, but for different reasons.
Fact is that not everything is a black & white scenario of "You're not banking a cajillion dollars a day, therefore you fail at life".

Many of us are very satisfied to simply not have to work a soulless 9-5 job, and lead the lifestyles available to us through these sorts of opportunities.

He's satisfied that he gets to work at 3am, dancing naked in front of his pets.
Your satisfied with your big bank account.
I'm satisfied that I've managed to leave the rat race without having to live in a cardboard box to do it.
And I'm assuming most others on here are satisfied with the odd bit of titty that gets posted...

Well I read both threads, commented on the other one, and agree that this thread blows. A job well done? LOL

I could (and have) dug a ditch and get that feeling. Name something about AM please. And maybe a little less puritan work ethicish.

My landlord doesn't ask me for satisfaction every month. He asks for money.
