Hey all

Been a along time reader but first time participant of wickedfire.com. I think it’s about time I give something back to the community. I’m going to share with you the methodology I use to generate keywords/key-phrases, it includes a small tool I created to facilitate this.

But first an introduction:

My name is Vitor, I’m 27 and I live in Toronto Canada, I work as a SEO/Webmaster, currently in the adult industry (NSFW never applies to me ).

Now for the juicy stuff, the keyword generation technique.

This technique was developed along side with the tool/php script mentioned above. So I will take you though the process I use to get my long tail/ppc keyword list.

First thing I do is a little bit of wordtracker research. I need a starting point, some reference keywords. Let say my keyword is adult webcams I would get a list that may look a little something like this.

adult cam show yahoo
adult cam model online
free adult web cam choice
free adult web cam rooms
adult web cam uk
amateur adult web cam site
adult action web cam
mature adult web cam
free adult web cam movie
adult web cam rooms
view adult web cam

Next, using this list and my own knowledge of the industry I create 3 more lists of keywords.
List 1 I use for what I call the core keywords. These are the must have keywords. i.e.: webcam
List 2 I use for more general keywords, but still related to the industry. i.e.: mature, lesbian
List 3 I use for descriptive keywords. i.e. hot, sexy

Using excel (but you can use any editor you wish) I do search and replace on the wordtracker list for each keyword I list 1 replacing it with KW1 and repeat for the other two lists using KW2 and KW3 respectively. Now not all words in the 3 lists will be present in the primary list, but this is fine. You just need to make sure that similar types of keywords are grouped together, and replace the ones that are found.

Once I’m done removing duplicates the primary list and the 3 other lists should look something like this.

Now enter the tool:
What this little script does is; takes the keywords in the 3 different lists and creates every possible combination for each of the patterns.

Disclaimer: Because of the load this can have on the server I have put some limitations in place.
First off, leaving the Full Run unchecked will not actually generate keywords It will just calculate how many can be generated based on your inputs.
Second if you do check the Full Run box, it will only generate up to 5000 keywords (this is only done to manage server load).
Another limitation is that a pattern cannot have more than 5 KW’s in it. Example: KW1 KW1 KW2 KW3 KW3 KW3 will have some funky results.
Its also not cleaning up results for example if you have a pattern “KW2 KW2 KW1” it will generate “adult adult webcam”
There maybe more bugs that I may not be aware of.

Ok to finish the webcam example.

I plug in the separate lists into the tool List 1 into KW1, List 2 into KW2 and List 3 into KW3. Finally the patter list goes in. And I click the Submit button.

And I get this “Generated 0 of possible 2632 in 1 seconds” because I didn’t check the full run box I get a number of the total number of possible combinations that I can get with what I have entered. If I check the full run box I get the 2632 keyword list.

I've made tools that do the same thing on my own, but always wrote them in client side javascript... no point in sending all the data to the server, then waiting it to come back... waste of bandwith... unless of course you're logging people's keywords. Not saying you are... but ya'know.

Actually I dont think its quite the same. Most generators just combine words in list one with words in list two etc. This one will combine them based on the pattern. (dont know how much sense this makes) if you look at the webcam example and click the submit button you might have a better idea.

i thought of javascript. but i was not going to relase this tool so it didnt make a difference to me.. i just get it running overnight and in the morning had a new BIG list of keywords. i also have future expansion for this tool. No logging :P

I was thinking of providing this tool for download but im concearned it will mess up ppl's server and then i take the blame. this is a pre pre beta lol I need to expand the disclaimer or something. (and here it is. http://www.valev.com/tools/kwgen/download/ ) and dont laugh at my half ass coding.
