We fixed that and listened.

I've said this before so sorry if it's a repeat for some of you.

I was pro choice before I had my first child. After having a child and having another one on the way, I am ADAMANT about the importance of keeping the choice available. Being pregnant and having a baby is FUCKING HARD. It's hard on a healthy body and can be deadly for an unhealthy one. It's hard on the mind. Even if you manage to get through the pregancy with flying colors, I love the people that come in and say, you could just give it up. You try carrying a baby to term, delivering it and then just giving it up. Fight about 1 million years of evolution and that powerful bonding hormone called oxcitocin. Then, just the first year of sleep lacking, screaming in your ear...it can really drive a normal person insane. Of course 17 more years of upbringing which even if your a good parent you can do one wrong thing and wonder if this is what your child is going to be in therapy for the rest of their life for.

I decided both times I was up for the challenge. I'm strong enough, smart enough, loving enough and I have a great support system. But it doesn't surprise me a bit that some women would not be up to the challenge. Therefore, it's vital that they get to decide for themselves and that should never be taken away.

Eh, you can find research that speculates that the inheritability of IQ is anywhere from 30% to 70%. The percentage is not as concrete as you make it out to be.

For most subjects, I'll give it to you that it would have been funny. But the reality is the most gruesome act that humans inflict upon one another is abortion.

I challenge any pro-choicer on this board to look at no less than 3 abortions: 1 partial-birth, one saline, and one suction.

I'll readily admit that I can afford no more than 4 kids at this point, but would never consider killing one because I'd not be able to afford my $500/month car payments, whatever debt you want to use.

Women are just as responsible as men for child rearing, but you have to see that the amount of families waiting to adopt is staggering, that you can have the baby and still give it a great life.

This argument of unwanted children is bullshit. Folks to go 3rd world countries for kids. We need to make adoption more accessible and regulated, that's all.

I think Mother Theresa said it best when she said "It's a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."

I'm against all abortion as birth control. Exceptions, though I think there are better alternatives, would include rape and incest.

I qualify the exceptions with the requirement that the crime must be reported and the victim must cooperate with law enforcement to get the abortion. You can't say that women are victimized by lack of options when they are raped, then turn around and claim that the mandatory reporting requirement would victimize the woman if she were to get an abortion. Fact is that life isn't fair and things go wrong sometimes.

If a rape victim doesn't report the rape, then others will likely be raped by the guy.

If an incest victim doesn't report the incest, they will likely be perped on again and you'll never solve a thing.


Bottom line is women in this country misuse abortion as birth control. Less than 1% of all abortions are medically necessitated or as a result of incest/rape. There are also many women who have been raped and are pro-life after having the child.

You can't trust a woman to be honest about the way she became pregnant because even those who were not raped would still use that excuse for the convenience factor or not wanting to look like a slut for forgetting to take her pill.
