Fuckyeah Amex Starwood Preferred Guest Card = $100 free gift

Hey guys- I figured I might as well share this cool bit of info with everyone. You guys might find it useful. So when you apply for the Amex Starwood Preferred Guest Card and make a purchase with it of any size, you get 10,000 points. Starwood has a point exchange system with a list of partners including Gap, Banana Republic, Amazon, Starbucks, iTunes, etc. which usually includes a deal where you can exchange under 10,000 points (usually 9500) for $100 gift card to these places.

So quick recap:
Register for the Amex Starwood Card and get a free $100 gift card.... or 3 free nights in one of their lower end hotels. Pretty good deal if you ask me

Also, forgot to mention, if you deposit $25,000 in an TD Ameritrade account, you get another free 20,000 points. Not sure if you are required to make any trades before the account is credited.

I just cashed out some points to stay 5 nights in a real nice hotel. They also gave me a free room upgrade when i got there. First heard about the card here on Wickedfire, definitely my credit card of choice.

you get a lot more out of the card by using it on hotel rooms or airline miles rather than exchanging it for a gift card

Nicky beat me to it. They definitely did not always accept amex.

And yes, you do get more value if you use it for the free nights at the hotels but not everyone travels that much so I just figured I'd throw out this alternative

You can also use the 10,000 points to spend 1 night in a $200-400 a night hotel room, or up to 3 nights in a $99-150 /night type room.

Gift cards work too, but I got an addiction to Starpoints.
