You realize of course, that I have not one but two frickin' watch affiliate stores and it's quite a temptation not to drop links here....

...but I have too much reverence for wicked fire. To me wicked fire is sacred and pure.

Actually, I'm lying. It's because I'm paranoid somebody would move into my niche.

Personally, myself, I buy the ten dollar watches from the street vendors who get them from China. So when one of my toddlers gets ahead of the watches and smashes it, I'm only out ten bucks.

I have an old pocket watch - Waltham - from 1892. Before I dropped it an broke the main spring it kept extremely good time. Less than one minute loss or gain per month. Don't own any wrist watches, I won't wear them, too uncomfortable.

I am a watch whore, and as such am very proud of the fact that the only watch I've bought (for myself) in the seven years+ since I went jobless is a sub-$400 titanium Seiko. Every time I get a copy of Robb Report or Trader Monthly my brain runs through the different ways I could go about getting some absurd but breathtaking timepiece, and I always manage to talk myself out of it before it gets too far into my head.
