Am I retarded? A friend of mine brought GH over to my house recently and I tried it out -- it seems like the dumbest, gayest, most pointless waste of life invented since well, I was going to say MySpace, but honestly, GH is worse. WTF is the big deal?

Are you a gamer? If not, you probably wouldn't understand.

If so, it's just escapism in a harmless environment, kind of like Madden and Call of Duty.

I understand what a video game is ... like some of them myself ... but this is so lame it's sad. I mean, you have this little plastic piece of shit that is vaguely guitar-like in appearance, with buttons on it a la something I'd buy my three-year-old and say "Look! Santa brought you a guitar!" except I'd get my kid something that didn't look like it could be crushed into forty pieces by a three-year-old. You stand in front of the TV and press the buttons that the screen tells you to. THAT'S THE GAME???

Basically, Guitar Hero is Dance Dance Revolution for people too fucking spastic to move their feet without injuring themselves or others. It's crazy. It's also inspiring; some time ago I regged a couple of specifically anti-GH domains with intent to build sites that promote those cheap all-in-one kits that all the guitar companies sell these days. Now that I've actually seen GH, a site promoting those kits as an option to GH seems like an even better idea. "BeyondGuitarHero.com -- Because a Little Plastic Piece of Shit Will Never Get You Laid"

fuck guitar hero. I just got rockband 2 the other night. Still a big fan of guitar hero but frankly it can suck it compared to rockband.

Rockband 2 imports all your songs from rockband 1 and all your downloads and it has a ton of new downloads. I already have about 240 songs in it right now. They also said by christmas there will be over 500 songs for it, most for free making the total over 600. Plus the new drumset is coming out which was outsourced to an actual electronic drumset company and it looks incredible. Even has an actioned bass pedal (although i wish it was a double kick).

Current track list
  • 1. AC/DC “Let There Be Rock” 1970s
  • 2. AFI “Girl’s Gone Grey” 2000’s

I have no ryhthm, so I can't play the real thing & I'm not a gamer at all. In fact, I don't even have a traditional joystick (or whateverthehell they call it these days). I swore off video games after college and only occasionally pick up madden (at a friends) or Gh.

It's real fucking nice seeing my 10 year old daughter rocking out to "Bark at the Moon" and "Sweet Child of Mine". We play 2 player & I get the bass or ryhthm ... It's real fucking fun and is very much a change from the norm.

I am totally stoked about the new game because of some of the songs they have released. That said, I'm pretty fucking jealous that you get to play "Spoonman" & "Down with the sickness". I also bet Chop Suey breaks your wrists.

On a side note: I'm very grateful for GuitarHero as it gives classic rock a little larger spotlight. Techno or Hip Hop gets on my last nerve, I would love to see rock take front and center again.
