I'm not happy with either choice I have in this election, but choosing the lesser of 2 evils, I have to go with McCain.

We on this forum, who have taken our financial futures into our own hands, and try to better our situation by working for ourselves, should be alarmed by Obama's plan to "spread the wealth". That worries me, a lot. I work hard for my money, and Obama wants to give it to others that may not be as motivated as me to get ahead. With Obama's plan, those who choose not to work are being rewarded, with my money,(and yours). We don't need more taxes, we need more tax payers.

I remember Carter's presidency. That guy will go down in history as one of our worst presidents of all time. (Yea, he builds a good house, and all that, but he should have stuck with carpentry, or peanuts). But as bad as Carter's record was, with double digit interest rates and 13% unemployment, I think Obama will give him a run for his money for the worst president crown.

You don't think raising taxes on corporate America won't trickle down and effect you? Obama is going to raise the Capital Gains tax, the Estate tax, etc...

When you take away the incentive the $250,000 earners have for maintaining their businesses (Profits), why should they keep their businesses open? Would you work your ass off, only to have the government take away the money you earned so they can redistribute the wealth.

And, when we increase the corporate taxes on big business, you don't think they will pass these taxes on to us? Most of you talk about big business being able to get out of paying taxes, anyway, what do you think is going to happen when they are slapped with the excessive tax burden Obama is proposing? They are going to raise their prices, passing this increased tax burden on to us.

Obama wants to make all people equal. But the truth is, we aren't all equal. We are equal in opportunity, but we are not all equal in talent or motivation. Some of us went the extra mile and trained ourselves to be able to do the things that will put money in our pockets. Some of us got off our dead asses and worked hard to make a better income. Other, less motivated people could have done that, too, but haven't.

When these business owners close up shop, because all incentive has been taken away for them to be in business in the first place, this will put many middle-class Americans out of work (these are the guys employing the average American).

These evil rich people are going to cut back, and not take that vacation this year...not buy that new luxury automobile...not buy that new home... All these things will effect the people working in the Vacation industry, the Car & Housing industry. These people will probably lose their jobs because there won't be the discretionary cash available to make these purchases (less demand means less of these worker are needed).

Obama says that 95% of the American people will not see a tax increase. With his new spending plans, where is he going to get the funds to pay for all of that? How's he going to pay for 47 million new citizens having government supplied health insurance? And he claims that, if you are paying for health insurance, now, it will cost you $2,500 less a year than what your paying now. The figures don't add up.

Since Obama came into office, there have been 94 tax Bills to come before congress. Obama voted all 94 times to increase taxes. But, you say, he won't increase the middle-class' taxes...He promised...you have to be making $250+ before you will see a tax increase...FACT: In those 94 Bills that Obama voted to raise taxes, was one Bill that he voted YES to increasing the taxes of those earning $42,000. That's Middle-Class earnings all day long. Way far from the $250,000 he promises is his threshold.

When talking the other day to that Plumber, the Plumber asked: "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" Complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream".

Obama answered (on camera): "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success, too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody...I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Not everyone behind me WANTS the chance for success. The motivation to succeed is taken away by Obama's plan. "I can sit on my ass and get paid the money you earned, so what incentive do I have to work hard to achieve my dream? I'll just steal YOUR dream." It works the other way, too. "Why should I work hard to make good money when it will just be taken away from me, anyway?"

Can anyone tell me how Obama's plan will work, fiscally? It will bankrupt this country.

I am a Reagan Conservative. When Reagan came into office, he slashed taxes and we came out of the Carter recession in record time. By lowering taxes the government actually increased revenues. We had 8 years of the best peace-time economy in our history. Lowering taxes stimulates the economy.

Joe Biden says pay the higher taxes, it's patriotic. Bite the bullet, it's your duty...

Obama wants to help the whole world with our money, giving billions in aid to other countries that hate us. Side Note: Obama encourages American Citizens to donate money to help causes world-wide. The funny thing is, Barrack & Michelle are in that upper income Barrack is talking about taxing (Michelle, alone, has been paid over $300,000 a year as a consultant for a number of years.) Yet, Barrack has a brother that lives in Africa, in a hut with a dirt floor, and he has NEVER helped his own flesh and blood in his poverty! Obama's tax returns show he donates less than 1/4 of 1% of his income to charity. But he wants us to open our wallets for this. (a case of do as I say, not as I do?) Open your wallet, Barrack, if you want to see increased donations.

Please note that I have, not once, brought up anything about Barrack's associations. I've done this purposely, as, although his associations may show some lack in judgement, that is not where I have a problem with him.

As independent Business people, we will be directly effected by Obama's policies. I can't afford him.

Comments? And I mean comments on Obama's fiscal plan. Please don't go on about other talking points. Tell me about his spending plan and specifically how he can pay for it without taxing the middle class. I haven't had ANYBODY tell me that on any forums I have posted on.

Please explain this to me.

I would have to agree for the most part but this is typical campaign bullshit. Unless it gets approved by other authoritative bodies some how. Frankly I can't stand seeing another dumb ass republican in office so the vote is simple - third party candidate because both of the main candidates suck.

However I know how the country only sees us as having 2 candidates, so that is the way it'll stay till people pull their heads out of their asses.

Save the country, vote 3rd party.

ever notice how scandinavian (mostly socialist) countries generally have the highest GDP?

yea...

higher taxes to pay for more education and healthcare is not a bad thing. more education = less dumbasses breaking the bank and making money instead.

also, a black president will give blacks in this country confidence they're sorely lacking. it should give them more pride in the country and a feeling they can actually do something.

Scandanavia... are you serious? You are going to compare the USA to Scandanavian countries? Bro come on. Fantastic, they are well educated, who's got the wealthiest and most successful nation in the world? We do. Why? Because it is based on capitalism. Those with a talent and desire to make money are allowed to do so. These people then provide jobs and other benefits to the economy.

Neidamyer you are spot on with your assestment economically speaking and I couldn't agree with you more. + rep for you my friend.

1)Why quote such a big article right after its posted Rage9?

2a)Scandawho? Jenzkc Which countries edu degrees are internationally excepted? We already have the systems in place, just get on the saddle baby.
2b) your other comment Jenzkc: Next we need a Mexican president. Oh wait they will take any job. Same with the asian community, who were basically brought here to built the rail road system some years back. Asians do pretty well in this country I noticed.

3)Why change something thats already worked for this country and made it so great in the first place. As I recall spreading the wealth was seen in many different gov systems in history. Some moderate and some extreme. Its never worked and is either starving or dead, so lets not go there.

Great Thread, Rep+.

No scandinavian countries are socialist nations. They are social liberal like the rest of europe. In fact, the US is also a social liberal nation mixed with a little conservatism.

Scandanavia... are you serious? You are going to compare the USA to Scandanavian countries? Bro come on. Fantastic, they are well educated, who's got the wealthiest and most successful nation in the world? We do. Why? Because it is based on capitalism.

That is because they are small countries compared to the US. Even russia and china are more "successful" countries in that perspective. The US would become an even greater economic power if it used the model the nordic countries use, which by the way is based on capitalism just like the US.

Have you lived in Russia or China. 90% of China's citizens are basically slaves. They dont get to choose who they are no matter how hard they work or smart they are. Most of china is not Beijing its pretty poor and crappy. (you want that here :(

As for Russia, I still have relatives that live there. Its not that great. Truthfully you cant appreciate what you have till its gone. I can I've been on the other side. This is truelly the best country in the world, please dont change it.

Check it out when I was 24 I already owned a new 2000 sq ft home, and drove a brand spanking new BMW. Oh by the way I never graduation college, just part timer. Then I went to work for my self. What other country gives me that. Look at how I stimilated the ecomony there.

Did i say china or russia was good? I basically said that they sucked, which was the point. Read again.

lol
You guys are all funny.

No one is going to vote third party, because most Americans have no idea they have a choice.

Both candidates suck.

Obama is black. Most blacks will support him. Many blacks live in poverty. If he proposes to "take money from the rich and give it to the poor", he is tailoring to most blacks. That's where he will get the vote.

^someone has to be honest.

McCain is nothing special either. But I'll leave everyone else to debate this.

RP was our only hope. He will be too damn old by the time the next election rolls around, so don't have hope.

Abandon hope.

This country is fucked, and there isn't anything you or I can do to change that.

All we can do is live life, and try to suck as much out of it as possible, and help those closest to us when they fall down.

I personally believe the candidate is chosen far before the election process has begun. Votes don't mean shit.

Less than .01% of the people in this country make all of these decisions for us.

This is my point of view, so if you don't like it, don't listen to it...

But I think most of this election shit is so prominent because it keeps America's eyes on the Hat, while the real trickery is going on elsewhere.

It gives everyone something to debate, something to think about besides the real world, and it lets millions of people throw away their lives for awhile by spending all of their money and energy trying to vouch for a candidate and encourage their election. Get a life.

The moment you realize there is nothing you can do, is the moment you will be like me, and turn the TV off when the news and election coverage comes on.

Don't eat up the media-fed goodies so much, they aren't good for you.

Were not talking about third party. It will not work. Were just voting for the less of two Evils.

I have always had a problem with this flawed theory and I hate to think that a lot of people think this way. We are never going to gain any ground as a nation for change with this attitude. So what a 3rd party hasn't been elected in about 150 years, your vote is meant to be used how you want it to. If enough people would get over this whole idea a 3rd party candidate might make a dent in an election one day. Vote for whoever you fucking think should be in office, write yourself in for all I care.

People always say it is a wasted vote to not vote for one of the big two. This is exactly how the gov wants you to think - this way, no one who wants a radical change to the gov will ever be elected. People don't use their vote the way they want and a demo or reb always get elected. Sure, it would take a while but if everyone voted on how they felt and not the "lessor of two evils" at least eventually our want for change would be seen. I mean real change, not the bullshit change the the big 2 say they are going to do.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

Throwing money at schools will not solve the problem. We already spend more money on education than most countries and it does no good.

You have to get stiffling teachers unions out of the system. The kids run the schools today. We are so afraid of upsetting kids and parents. We are too woried that a kid won't get a ribbon for comming in last place. We are worried that we will get sued any little thing that we do to upset a kid's parents.

Political Correctness, Unions and kids raised by the cartoon network are the problems of todays schools, not lack of funds.

Thats what the liberals need to realize. Throwing more money at schools, handing out condems and passing out school books with gay characters will not solve our problems.

The schools need to teach math, english and science and get out of the social engineering dept.

McCain is the man!

He's gonna continue down the road of privatizing government until there is no government. Shit, the White House will probably be a fuckin' McDonalds by the time he's done. Cause who needs the government anyway right? ...

It's not like they have Wall Street under control, so let Wall Street run wild.

It's not like Medicare or SS have a chance at solvency in 20 years, so get rid of them. Let seniors roam the streets and sell stolen meat and flashlight batteries for survival. That'd be some funny shit.

Public schools don't work; they're just mass babysitting centers. Put them little fuckers to work like they do in China.

National Security? Hey it's all about pre-emption nowadays. No complicated decisions to make there. The policy is simple: As long as nobody says shit, nobody gets nuked. Period. Right?

That's pretty much it. All you need in government is one guy. And his job is to push the button if anybody says shit.

It's easy.

This has been fun, but...

Hey guys,

This has all been an interesting discussion, but no one has answered my question, yet (or even attempted to address it).

How is Obama going to make all of his "Change" policies and not raise our (middle-class) taxes?

I think your silence on this speaks volumes.

It's time to buy gold! Our money isn't going to be worth shit!

PhreOnBurn said: "If he (Obama) proposes to 'take money from the rich and give to the poor', he's tailoring to most blacks. That's where he will get the vote."

I have a business partner who is black. We have a relationship where we talk very plainly and freely to each other. He was telling me that because he is not voting for Obama that his friends & family in the black community are constantly riding him about not supporting his race in this election. And that most of the blacks are all pumped about Obama getting in, saying: "When Barrack is President, he's going to take the rich (some actually say white) man's money and give it to us!" When my friend explains his position on this, how he sees Obama's plan as a bad thing for our country and economy, they shout him down and tell him he "is trying to act white" (read: successful).

This is the mentality that is being fostered (and encouraged) in the (at least my local area) black community. The "You just wait! We're going to get our's, now." attitude that does nothing to encouraging anyone to put forth an effort to better their own lot in life. It's being looked upon as "Christmas' coming early this year!"

My niece went to school last week wearing a "Palin" T-Shirt. She was called a racist by 4 different people. The attitude has become, if you don't support Obama, your a racist. The only one foistering this view in the campaign is Obama, himself.

No one has brought the race card up, except Obama. "There going to tell you that I don't look like any of the presidents you see on our money...that I have a funny sounding name...There going to tell you that I'm different...Oh, did they mention that I am black?"

Obama, himself, has set up this mentality. This has created an "Us Against Them" attitude. I guess he is playing to his base. Black votership will be at an all-time, record breaking high, this year. (That, by the way, is a GOOD thing. It's unfortunate it took promises of "Money for Nothing" to accomplish this.) But to pitch his campaign as though he's Robin Hood, pillaging Sherwood Forest, is wrong, but very much what the poor want to here.

The problem is, in the story of Robin Hood, he was taking back what the poor had already paid in crushing taxes. Obama is giving the poor money that they never earned and is robbing the rich (Middle-Class people who have income/a job) with crushing taxes to give it to them.

That is classic Socialistic/Communistic "Redistribution of Wealth".

With Michelle Obama having a salary of over $300,000 each year (plus Barrack's income), why don't the Obama's follow their own advice? Tax records show that they gave less than 1/4 of 1% of their income to help anyone. If this is such a burning belief, that the wealthy have an obligation to help the poor, why haven't the Obama's given of their own wealth?

I'm telling you, this Grand Plan is going to bankrupt our country.

Any comments?
