My Xmas gift to myself (and my business) is buying an affordable desktop PC with dual monitors (bought separately). I've been scoping out Black Friday deals but nothing has REALLY jumped out at me...
A lot of the deals include VISTA - which I want to avoid at all costs. And of course I need a video card that supports dual digital monitors. Doesn't need to be an amazing computer, just one that does the job and doesn't suck. I have my eye on New Egg, Woot and Amazon and am not opposed to going the retail route for the right offer... but anyone have any suggestions? Feel free to chime in with other Black Friday deals that you'll use for your business.

The only PC I've found this year that's a good deal is going to be at Office Depot: Acer Aspire AX1200 U1640A Desktop Computer With AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor 4400 by Office Depot
It'll be $229.99 - Regular $379.99 Still debating on picking one up to replace my 4 year old PC... And Newegg has a 22 inch monitor for $149 right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-035-_-Product

Subigo, NewEgg has a deal that starts in 2 hours that is 22" monitors for $129/each and 19" at $99 each and also a desktop deal:
Black Friday: Newegg's Black Friday Deals Unveiled But the desktop is Vista and I don't want to buy the monitors before buying the desktop. Wal-Mart has a decent desktop at $398 but it comes with Vista. Ugh. I also just found this link for CompUSA and TigerDirect: Black Friday: CompUSA and TigerDirect Pink Friday Deals Leaked

seeing that your affiliate marketer spend 1.5-2.5k on a setup should be well worth it I'm sure your at your computer 10 + plus hours a day i would never skimp on purchasing a PC go for it do it right and you want have to be frustrated with slow speeds and aggravating issues, also just reformat you wont find computer that don't have vista on them in stores
check out www.powercyberpc.com look to spend at lease 1.5k on one whats 1.5k when it's really the only over head you have, a store front would cost 1000s a month luck for us we just need a internet connect and a computer |

Holy shit:
look at that "Search New Egg' XX-XXX-XXX number on the Black Friday Ad and you can actually get those deals now. The 22" monitors look good although $20 of it is Mail-In there is still Free Shipping so that is awesome. BUT - look at the customer reviews... does that mean it will be a pain in the ass to set it up for dual monitors? I'm about to snag 2 22" and then figure out my PC deal later although the PC from New Egg at $299 doesn't sound terrible either... complete dual monitor desktop package for $500 sounds kinda nice. UPDATE: @SkpStaa... people equate price with quality way too much. If it costs more, it must be so much better. That's the fallacy that enables brand names to sell a pair of jeans for $500. If I'm able to buy a complete setup for $500... how much MORE will I get out of a system that costs 5 times as much? I doubt I'll get 5 times the value out of it. Not to mention, a few months down the road I could use this computer for the "interns" I hope to scoop up and by a better setup for myself...

Nice catch on the 22" monitors, thanks for that.
Any reason not to get the 19" monitors at $99/each? Newegg.com - Acer X193Wb Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2000:1 ACM - LCD Monitors How about the Desktop PC for $299? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=83-103-183

Actually those 22" Monitors aren't USB only... look at the right, one of the PROS is that it connects via VGA if USB isn't good enough.

I have been absolutely in love w/ my 22" monitor widescreen and it very much helped productivity.
For $149 here's a 22" widescreen, bigger screen and allows for digital input (unlike the $99 monitor above) so could be used in your upgraded system and stick the intern with another monitor. Mine is 2ms vs. 5ms on this one. Don't know how much that affects things. Newegg.com - Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2500:1 - LCD Monitors Will you get $50 of increased productivity, I would find it hard to believe you wouldn't! |

Problem with WOOT is you gotta wait for the deal to come. And you don't know if/when it will. And then if its a WOOT OFF you can be pressured into buying before doing your due diligence for fear of missing out on the deal.
WOOT OFF is perfect for gift shopping because it is impulse buying but for a big ticket item I'm not sure how reliable it would be. I wonder if they do anything special for Black Friday. Nonetheless its a good point. Perhaps I'm being hasty.

Is eBay not competitive in the US? Over here no-one can compete with the prices on eBay, but then personally I'd rather have a better second hand item than an inferior new one and for PCs really don't care about warranties. (RTB in particular is more hassle than it's worth.) Not looked at PC's for a while, but in the last year I bought an ex-demo fully guaranteed core2duo on eBay (from the same small company my stepdad bought an Atari ST from years back) for £100/$200 less than the equivalent on even the cheapest sites. I picked up a Vaio laptop too for £200 - more than happy to pay for the brand/quality there - it's a great little machine and better quality and spec than anything that retails at the same price. I despise eBay and their business practices, but can't argue with the choice and price. Even the stuff from the big guys like Dell on there is so much cheaper than their retail prices. I hate using eBay... but no one has come up with a better alternative yet.

I ended up going with the 2 19" inch monitors from newegg. That review of the 22" really put me off, so I didn't feel like risking it because neweggs return policy on a LCD monitors is a bitch. The reviews of the 19" monitors put me more at ease. Yeah...I'm a pussy.

Cool. That will be a ton of workspace! Glad the info helped. And I believe RockDiesel is talking about the 22" mentioned way above and not the one I pointed out. Correct me if I'm wrong - but the one I pointed out had lots of reviews, almost all positive... but $30 more.

Come on guys, what's wrong with ya? Got 2 PCI-e slots? Get 4 monitors!
Seriously, the productivity jump from 2 to 3 is at least as big as from 1 to 2 (the 4th, take it or leave it really but very useful sometimes). I should upgrade really for the sake of my eyes, but I love my 3 x 21" (oldskool 3:4 CRT) setup + a 19" LCD on top of one of the old lumps.

Look into the HP Elite series. Had some nice deals back whenever I bought mine for about $800. Quad core, 512 mb video ram, 1TB harddisk space, 4 GB ram, TV tuner, HD DVD drive, lightscribe DVD multidrive, 15:1 card reader, and a whole shit load of bells and whistles for under 800 bucks. Only works with Vista tho so thats kinda poopy. Still runs everything like Sex though.

Fry's has a 21.6" LCD for $99 w/o rebate... It's a real awesome deal. It's not on their site - their best deals are in the newspaper clipouts.
You can check some of their deals here: LA Times Shopping Channel |
