I always thought Shamwow was something the folks here made up as an analogy for all things marketing online (like a widget). I didn't realize it was a real product until just a couple of weeks ago

I actually did buy a shamwow set for my wife... she was like "wtf is this?" so I gave her a demonstration.

Went in the kitchen, filled up a whole glass of water and splashed in the living room... shamwow picked the whole fucking thing up.

Unfortunately, now I'm the designated spill cleaner.

We recently woke up to a busted pipe, with at least 15 gallons of water on my carpet. I sent my wife to the store for a shopvac. I called her on the way and asked her to see if they had shamwow, and we would try that also. She returned with the shopvac and the shamwows. We tried the shamwows first, and they did everything the infomercial said. They picked up all the water and after a little time, dried the carpet out. I did not have to replace the carpet. I did, however, return the shopvac unopened and un-used! I would reccomend this product to everyone, it is great!"

I've yet to see these things down under.
Anyone have any idea what they're actually made from to be so absorbent? Some sort of liquid containing polymer blended to an artificial fiber of some sort perhaps?

All I get on Wikipedia is something about Vince Offer, who sounds pretty douchetastic.

[edit] OK, just watched an ad for it... He reminds me of Christian Slater, but less attractive.
