Lots of reasons. Mostly that I live in Australia where personal ownership of firearms is rare and pistols even more so.

I just don't see the advantage of having it tucked away. I have one on my nightstand too. If something should happen, whatever that may be, it only makes sense to have it as accessible as possible right? Why lose precious seconds messing with a safe? Now if I had kids it would be a different story, but it's just me and the wife.

Nothing to be confused about. I've just made the decision a long time ago that I would rely on myself for my own well being. The average police response time here in Las Vegas is 8 minutes. A lot can happen in 8 minutes, and I choose to be prepared to defend myself instead of relying on someone else for that responsibility.

Plus, guns are fucking cool!

Just bought a new monitor and cleaned up my desk:

It's a 24" Dell E248WFP. I got it refurbished from Dell for $250 shipped. It's great for gaming and work, however if you're looking for color accuracy and good viewing angles it sucks balls. Luckily for me I don't give a shit about that, so it's perfect. And sorry about the poor quality photo, I took it with my iPhone.

Bangkok is badass in it's own right but the fact that I'm hacking up diesel flavored lung butter by my 5th day there kind of ruins it for me.
