Good places to bone up on SEO:
SearchEngineWatch
Matt Cutts
Eric Ward
Bruce Clay
SEOMoz
WickedFire
SEO Chat
SEO Book
Google

I'm sure that given time, this list could get quite long, but then you'd just be reading this thread and not getting ready for your interview.

Good luck, BTW!

Yeah, Website Publisher is the place. It doesn't get talked about much these days, but it was VERY helpful to me when I was first starting out. I am still surprised that it didn't become much bigger.

*Allowing search engine spiders to crawl pages without session IDs,
cookies, or logging in.

thats one thing i was like heh? cause i dont have any sites with members, any resources for that? Thanks to everyone so far

webmaster world does that. They allow the google spider to crawl the members only pages, but when you try to go to the link it asks you to sign up. Similar to cloaking. Don't know how they do it, but that might be a start for you.

The New York Times website does it to, and its not similar to cloaking, it is cloaking. Really big publishers are the only ones that can get away with it.

Let him know that he is risking being penalized and/or banned. The BH guys get away with it for a while, but they are not shooting for long term.

That's funny! I am thinking now to apply for a job as internet marketing director, as they call it so nicely, within my corporation available at the moment. This person needs to set up link building campaigns, implementing seo strategies, etc. But not sure if I am going to do that, because I am affraid that they will ask for previous job experience with other companies which I don't have. My experience is with my own company & projects which I still do part-time and learned things by myself without following courses...! For sure people like us have often more experience, knowledge etc. then those people working within a company doing seo & internet marketing stuff. But more hard to prove for us that we might be better candidates I guess...

I imagine as an SEO employee you can pull the same kinds of things these SEO firms do,

"I now have you ranking #1 on google now, just do a search for 'colostomy bags in northern michigan'" Now you will need to pay me $10,000 a month so I can work really hard to keep your #1 ranking on Google."

Good luck on tomorrow's interview. Don't forget those basic tips when it comes to interviews--Look straight in his eyes and always give that strong grip when shaking hands.
