Fuckyeah Why I Hate Blogging (5 Crap Things About It). My Long-Ass Rant!

So I write this long-ass rant on domainingtips.com about why I fucking hate blogging. Though I would post a part of it in here too.

Quote:

1. Having to be a Content Factory.

I hate writing. I hate writing even more so when I have to write just for the sake of writing. It isn’t like I can’t write — I certainly can write when I want to. There are some bloggers who, for fuck’s sake, churn out like 30-40 posts a day.

I am sorry but if I go to a conference or attend some party then I would be far more interested in networking with people and having fun rather than shoot back from there and be blogging at 3 AM to be the first one to break the story.

2. Retarded Commentators.

Even worse than having to write shitloads of content is having to deal with retarded commentators who post their troll-ish comments on everything you write.

3. The Free-Loader Commies.

And then there are people who hate any attempt that you make to commercialize your blog. There was one dude who went on a personal crusade to bitch about me and rank for my name because I had added some affiliate links.

Too bad bitch but your blog isn’t even indexed in Google anymore — you messed up with the wrong guy.

But was that asshole worth the headache? Nope. I’d rather be doing stuff that makes me cold hard cash rather than deal with such idiotic commies who go into a fit the moment they see anyone trying to make a buck. That may be one reason perhaps why such people never get laid.

4. The Dickish Ad-Clickers.

Oh and yeah, then there are people who click on your ads and buy through your affiliate links and then behave as if they own you and demand that you reveal your secrets (or whatever that means apart from working your ass off) to them.

Yeah Genius! You can take that affiliate link or advertisement, roll it up and stick it up your ass. I am not going to replace my recommended web host’s support team or make you a fucking site. I don’t have the time for that — it is simply a matter of R.O.I. and I make more money doing my stuff.

I don’t want your emails or Instant Messages asking me if I could appraise a domain for you (or like one person who sent me a list of 300 fucking domains to appraise — I wonder if he was that shameless or had really big balls or was a retard). And no, I don’t add total strangers on my facebook.

5. Being Called a Blogger.

Then there is the stigma of being called a blogger and being a part of “blogosphere”. People expect you to behave in a certain way and do things like other bloggers do.
Yes, I was pissed. In any case I am focusing on selling real stuff and building resource sites, so I don't give a fuck if all the church-fags who used to read my site get pissed off.

This, and jizzing in my pants, is why I don't blog. Not now, not ever (except for this one veerrrry lame Uni assignment where it was mandatory).

The one thing that really shits me is how certain bloggers get a cult of perosnality, and become "authority figures" to the point that people that actually do know what they're talking about (i.e. people that actually do well in that particular industry) are totally dirsregarded because they "don't even have a blog".

Oh, and don't forget, Eric fucking Bauman's got his own blog now that he got fired from Ebaum's World. All the more reason not to have one. You don't want to be like Eric Bauman, do you?

word. If you were blogging in German you'd have another problem: Nobody reads your shit unless he's a blogger or comes from google search... so the effect you have on people is nearly to 0 (and the money you make as well).

Blogging is an easy way to express yourself through writing. Just as some people want to grab a guitar and sing to express themselves, other people want to write about various issues. Blogging allows those people to both express, and reach an audience at the same time.

1. No one has to do anything.

2. Turn off the comments, or ignore them. Better yet, delete the comments.

3. Patience. In Greece we say "I write him on my balls", but it does not translate well. "Screw 'em" is a fitting alternative.

4. As above.

5. There is not really a stereotype of a blogger, just as there is no stereotype of a writer. It's an illusion.

1. If you are running the blog as a profit-entity then you have competition in the niche to deal with.

2. Yup, but that doesn't change the fact that you have to read that crap AND in the next comment they call you names for censorship. Been there done that and it isn't fun for me.

3. Hahah! Right on man. Except that I would rather optimize my energy and efforts and focus on what makes me better return on time invested.

4. As above.

5. Unfortunately, that illusion is a reality for a lot of people and you have unnecessary pressure on yourself which you'd rather not have to deal with and focus on your core stuff.

Good points for sure. There is a downside to most things though.

I like blogging. More than anything it helps me to learn... It's been proven that you only retain so much from things that you read. But when you write something you on average retain a bit more of it. When you teach someone, you retain even more.

I got a few things to say about blogging but I'll spare everyone what would surely be the longest post ever on wf. Just stick by your principles man. You started blogging for a reason. Every blogger eventually falls victim to trying to appease to the masses just remember why you started your blog in the first place and ignore what everyone else wants to get out of you.

Yeah, blogging can suck at times. Just be glad that you have new/unique/interesting things to say. Most bloggers just seem to rehash what's already been said.

I'd go with the "fuck you" option. You're the one with the blog and the readers, he's the inconsequential prick.

The only blogging endeveours I really give a crap about are the ones where I write what I'm really thinking, and that usually offends people. You get to have lots of fun in the comments though.

Big traffic, no money

Fake Steve Jobs’ best month came with a traffic spike. His actual identity was revealed in the New York Times, sending more than a half-million people to his site in a single day.

His payout? For that half-million-visitor day, about a hundred dollars in AdSense earnings. For the entire month, he made $1,039.81.

Not quite what he was hoping for when he became a celebrity blogger and earned an impressive amount of attention and notoriety. So if Fake Steve Jobs can’t monetize a blog, the rest of us are doomed, right? He worked hard, he created quality content, he had a terrific angle that went nicely viral. He was at the pinnacle, and he’s broke. So we will be too. It must be true, he said it in Newsweek.
Guess they should change the title of the article to "don't depend on adsense."

More like don't depend on untargeted traffic to unfocused content for which there are no directly relevant advertisers. Adsense works just fine on blogs that are very much the opposite of Fake Steve Jobs's bullshit blog.

I totally agree that blogging sucks.

I spent about two years blogging in a couple of niches and dealt with the same crap the original poster talks about. All of it. Oh, and getting one of my Wordpress blogs hacked because that always happens, if you blog long enough.

Now I add an rss feed to a static html site for blog functionality. You can submit your rss feed to all the blog directories, you get listed in Google's blog search, you can submit your rss feed everyplace else you want to, you can ping after you update, and generally get all the "fun" that you'd have with a regular blog without all the shit (i.e. lame commenters, having the pressure of updating all the time because it's a blog format, etc.)

Works really nicely and I can leave a site alone for months and just get back to it when I want to.

I have not and will never blog. To much effort to think of what to blog about everyday. Being tied to blogging means I can't achieve my goal of not working at all (or at least only a few hours a week or a month).

While I dislike the idea of having my own blog, I will write the occasional post or two for a friend. I generally have long arsed rants in messenger clients anyway, and most of that can be fixed up with some decent grammar and punctuation and turned into a semi-decent article anyway.

I think I let Brar actually sucker me into writing some stuff for him at some point in the future...
