Thats almost what we pay in Canada, which doesn't make sense considering we have the second largest oil reserves in the world.

it's more expensive to extract oil from tar sands, which is where most of Canada's oil is. It needs to be separated which makes it more expensive than oil from Saudi Arabia or India.
what doesn't make sense is why America pays so much less, when most of its oil comes from Canada.

in relation to the thread, I'm making a few bucks a day from the 2 or 3 sites that I own. I started trading equities a lot less so I can concentrate on AM instead.

I guess there's lots of economical cars being driven around in the countries where the gas prices are so high. I got rid of a big old suburban 1 1/2 years ago due to gas prices. Is there alterrnative transportation available?

The first day I made $10, which was about 2 years ago, I felt so good. I knew it was completely possible to make way more than that, but I had busted my ass all summer long while working a part time job. I didn't really know what I was doing and I was updating a site daily even with no readers. Back then, the reward to me was just knowing someone was seeing what I wrote. Of course, once the money came in there was just nothing better than seeing those tangible results come in to existance.

There is so much money out there it is almost unbelievable. Work hard and before you know it you'll be making more in your sleep than you could during a 12 hour shift at a day job. Fuck, going on vacation and coming back with more money than you left with, thats hard to beat.

So, for almost 5 years he worked hard trying to get a profitable business going just so he could get to the point of being self-employed by it. During this time his college buddies had great jobs, new cars, he was driving a piece of shit and delivering pizza. Fast forward to today, he is a multi-millionaire and his college friends are knee deep in debt & crappy marriages.

That is a long hard road.. but, sometimes thats just the way it happens.

Depends on the business model. Direct sales sites are good for at least 5K to 8K a month. At least in the academic niche I'm targeting.

Your friend may have been one of the guys the old VC firm I worked for bought out. Looking back now, I'm surprised at how simple the sites were that got bought out for $5M and up. The Dot Com days sure were weird days....

Sweet deal. BTW, the old VC/Incubator firm I worked for collapsed in 2001. Even the $700M buyout for one of its projects didn't save it. Although 1998-2001 had a lot of excesses, it also had a lot of fun and exciting times. Nothing like the Dot Bomb era to make one think that one can change the world with a click of a mouse button. Very heady and strange times. Of course, now we're all a little more "realistic."

I'm making about $400 per day now. Not too bad - I was a complete newbie when I signed up here a few months ago. Most of what I've learned has come from here, or on other sites that people mentioned here. So, thank all of you for your help. I really, sincerely mean that.

And the crazy thing is - there is *so* much more that I want to do now. In the beginning, I was going crazy trying to think up ideas to make money. Now I'm going crazy because I don't have time to implement even a 10th of what I want to do.

The vast majority of it is coming from PPC affiliate marketing (not ringtone offers though). I've heard people say it's comparatively hard to do, but I've had success with it. I have a couple of arbitrage sites running, but I haven't had much luck with them. I think I know how to make 'em better, but I haven't had a chance yet. I've also got a niche site running that's never had a single hit... not really interested in doing SEO on it, though - too much effort compared to this other stuff.

Wow, great to see someone making huge progress from the things discussed here. A little motivation boost for me, thanks. I'm only doing ppc arbitrage right now, but I'm not pulling $400/day yet on it...I gotta look into affiliates since I'm signed up with CJ and Azoogle.

EDIT:::
Dangit, i was wondering why someone gave me negative rep for this post...i didin't say how much i was making...
$20-30/ day, mostly arbitrage.

I'm making $5-7 a day with a myspace site. I'm making $1-$2 a day with arbitrage, but hopefully that will take off now that smart pricing isn't working against me.

It's too soon to really give numbers... but-

about $500/day now, over the last 10 days.

My retail site went from $180/day to $300/day.

My arbitrage went from negative $9/day to positive $15/day.

My affiliate sites are all over the place... anywhere from -$100/day to +400/day.

Averaging $500 a day over the last 10 days. Which I am happy with. However, it's volatile... I would not be surprised to see a negative day here and there. My profit margins are no where close to some of the smarter people here. I usually spend 400-600 to average $500 profit.

My arbitrage and affiliate sites where in the negative last month, but not by much. I consider it money well spent, since overpaying for clicks allowed faster testing. Don't do it if you can't afford to lose it.

This business feels more like a casino with good odds than a real business to me =)

Guess I have a lot to learn still!

Thanks WickedFire, it's a fun ride-

And the crazy thing is - there is *so* much more that I want to do now. In the beginning, I was going crazy trying to think up ideas to make money. Now I'm going crazy because I don't have time to implement even a 10th of what I want to do.
Thats pretty impressive to reach that level so quickly. Im at about $250 a day average across all revenue streams but would really like to be at $500 a day.

I guess you recovered well from Azoogle putting a stop to using free with ringtone offers.

Actually I was really joking, I make next to nothing compared to quite a bit of people on this board. But thanks for the negative rep though.

Giles has a spectacular aura about
Only making about $0-$2 a day now, I used to make a steady $2-$3 but i let my site die off and it only gets a few hits a day. This is adsense

I have spent quite a while on my new flash arcade and it has a nice stream of traffic but it's hard to make money out of it. I tried adsnese but the payout per click sucks for game keywords, i'm using Azoogle on there now with ringtone offers and the like, I have had 20 or so clicks but no sales.

As for the price of petrol New Zealand are paying NZ$1.55/litre or NZ$5.87/gallon, thats US$3.79/gallon. It has dropped by 25c in the last little while. My scooter does about 70KM to the litre. I don't know how lucky I am.

I'm averaging $10/day for adsense. I also have the occasional order from Amazon or Linkshare, but it's not much. CJ closed my account because I wasn't earning any money through them.

I'd like to see updates from some of these guys.

I personally make too little to measure.

I started May '06 with no internet skill and its my "third" job. Should be getting some measurable revenue soon... I've been developing skills and have a partnership with my son that's finally getting off the ground.

jan if you are making $0 and you were making $0 you can tell people that you have 100% growth because 100% of $0 is still $0!

Is that the same math you use when you look at your 4inch manhood? Does it make you feel better

at $3-5/ day now from 10 arb pages. started a month ago when I randomly came to this site looking for things to do w/ my domains... made about a 40% ROI, which I do not think is too bad...

after getting this fucking CFA exam out of the way soon i'll be starting a pretty unique type of forum, and I have a new drop-ship site that I am almost done with... then loads more arb pages I'd like to make, and aff programs to start... I have so many ideas now the worst part is trying to find time to work on them!

You do realize that anything times zero is still zero...

And also growth is defined as an increase. Zero is no increase over zero
