I know I always have issues with oragnizing my desktop. Stardock just came out with "Fences". You basically draw fences around your icons and they stay in a group.

I've just downloaded it and it looks great. There's also a program called Launchy that is great for finding and launching files in a few keystrokes if you have a lot of files.
