So I flew first class for the first time 2 weeks ago and they gave everyone some nice Bose noise canceling headphones and I was amazed how well they worked. I'm sure they weren't the nicest ones out there but does anyone have any recommendations for noise canceling headphones?

Sennheisers are great cans. The Grado SR60 is an excellent choice for a lower price point. Spend a few minutes cruising the head-fi.org board.

Why not just go for the 450s? Any particular reason other than the increased cost?

they sound the same. 8 - 28,000 Hz.

450s have a talk through feature so you can press a button on the earphone and talk to people without taking them off. go for it if you want to feature.

if only ultrasone had noise cancelling phones.

ultrasones are awesome because they are easier on your ears. they don't shoot sound directly into the ear canal but instead let it diffuse throughout the entire ear. they are perceived as the same volume but db level is 40% lower.

Yeah, I saw that they had that feature but for $100 more I thought they may do more cool stuff as well.

Thanks for the edumacation. I'm very out of touch compared to how insanely particular true audiophiles are.

I did just that when I started looking around after I saw Guysmy's recommendation for the Sennheiser PXC350s.

Some of those guys do NOT FUCK AROUND when it comes to audio.

I have some Sony ones I think are really damn good. MDR NC60. They work great on trains and planes. Take a while to get programmed but once done very quiet and batteries last a long time for sound deadener. Comfortable too. And all black...

I have the Sennheiser PXC 450's.

Haven't found anything better for traveling/noise cancelling. Incredibly comfortable too and the talk through is actually very convenient for ordering drinks or answering a question without having to take them off. Works very well.

CL Keenen- can you add a poll to the thread between sennheiser pxc350 and Bose? Curious to see the results before I make a purchase as well.

no highs no lows - must be BOSE!

Bose is a company we should all take notes from. Product a moderately okay product, price it 3x higher than it's worth, and market the SHIT out of it.

Demos, testimonials, etc. Brilliant marketing, complete waste of money bang/buck wise.

Agreed.

Bose Quiet Comfort 2. I went through 5 pairs of noise cancelling headphones before deciding on Bose. The best sound quality and noise cancellation - by far.

Tried Quiet Comfort 3 as well, but they are not as good.
