Yahoo Finance has free real time.

I.e. Microsoft stock: MSFT: Summary for Microsoft Corporation - Yahoo! Finance

Right below the company name.

they all suck, they're not real time. just open a scottrade account with a small amount and use the java applet if you want it real time.

I have tradestation, it is the best but it cost $$

Or open an account at Think or Swim, Quotes charts everything for free. Their options trading platform is the best there is without spending 2k a month.

You don't need real time unless you are trading?

This is also free, it is all you need and it is bad as hell, especially the screener

depends on the feeds you get, I spend 135.0 month with an account. If you hit a certain # of trades it is free except you still pay for the data feeds.

sign up for etrade. no cost of opening an account. free real-time live quotes + ton of live research/market data.

Plus an etrade account lets you get real-time quotes on your iphone/ipod touch (with wifi/3G) at no extra cost....pretty cool, eh?

I traded full time for years, was good at it, got cocky, made one big bet, lost hundreds of thousands, quit. That was in 2003, didnt' trade again until 2007. These days I trade occasional in the pre markets.

And yes, it is profitable for about 5% of traders. Everyone else loses, it has to be that way.
