What do you guys think of this drink? From my research they sponsor UFC and are quite big in the states. I have tried their drink once or twice and isnt too bad. Cuz I know you guys are gay affiliates and know you need energy drinks to survive.
Have any of your guys tried this drink? I am meeting up with the business development manager from Xyience. I managed to talk to the bdm (business development manager) and hes going to be flying down to Vancouver from Toronto, for another business meeting but hes willing to meet up with me. My goal from this meeting is to gain exclusive distribution rights for the lower mainland. I know that as a distributor, you need channels already open. But in my case - I do have the contacts to help me out, but I don't have much experience in doing it. What I want to know is what should I look out for? What kind of questions would arise that I should prepare for? Presentation wise should i be decked out like shirt, boots, suit that sort of thing? Any pointers or things i should look out for? |

Think about how many stores in the GVA already stock Xyience products. Shit I think I can even buy it at the Shell gas station down the street now.

I might be wrong, but I don't really think you stand a chance when they can easily just approach one of the already well established bottling/distribution companies in Van and do a deal with them; which is probably why he's flying out (not down) from Toronto in the first place.
Questions I would ask the guy that doesn't know what the wear to a business meeting... have you got a warehouse? A fleet of trucks? Staff? Or do you intend just to be the middle man and have someone else do all that? Why do I need a middle man? Are you going to stage event promotions? What are you going to do to market the product? Have you got an operating budget? How much? Etc. etc. etc. Good luck bro!

a) saturated market, good luck, even at an amazing price - I still walk around the corner and pay the premium for the product.
b) I don't wear suits for nobody - esp. a dickhead middle manager. Edit: part 2 of a - I thought you were going online sales. I skimmed it. <shrug> |

Xenergy is pretty tight. Just go in saying you can get whatever you need as long as you get the ability to do the distribution on their behalf. Then figure it out as you go along.
From my knowledge, distributors do normally have channels open. BUT in the one case where they are expanding to a new market, they usually try to secure a contract ( usually conditional) before they bother approaching retailers. Just try to get whatever you can get, it's gona be a tight learning experience. GOOD luck bro. And I think asking for business advice wouldn't be the best thing to do here. But then again we are the mother fuckin market for energy drinks. I chug down like 2 cans of that shit a day, and I know many other webmasters that do more. |

Questions. What exactly is your goal with meeting with me? Why should we give you exclusive rights when you don't have distribution channels? Are you willing to commit to moving X amount of product? Why should we work with you?

I looked into doing this but with a different product line to be exclusive distributor. Even if it all sounds good in the interview make sure you read the contract line by line. I was going to distribute it in my territory then sell it online and double my profit (because of my pricing) but the contract would have fried me.
Don't get in over your head and even if you think this is your once in a lifetime idea, start small and plan ahead. |
