That's good for pharma affiliates if it happens...

Wherever there is prohibition, a black market emerges. That is the history of prohibition, and yet our masters still continue to pursue it, I presume because it allows them to create a larger police and judicial state to regulate even more forms of behavior.

As with all bans, follow the money. Who stands to profit from this?

It's funny that the reason they're considering getting these off the market is because they contain Tylenol/Panadol (acetaminophen), and not because of the actual harm (none besides addiction) of the opioid/opiate. Actually, from the article:

Quote:
Most discussion after this panel has been about the restrictions on over-the-counter medications contaning [sic] acetaminophen, but removing commonly prescribed drugs from the market entirely is something else entirely.
The good news is that they're probably more likely to prescribe clean opiates. No more doing Cold Water extractions to get rid of the contaminant (Tylenol) in your pain pills.

In all seriousness, acetaminophen is damn dangerous if not used properly. It only takes a little more than the recommended amount on the box (extra strength) to begin to cause severe liver damage, not to mention the fact that people tend to ignore the warnings to avoid consuming alcohol while on the stuff.

For bad pain, nothing beats 10-20 mg of unadulterated oxycodone. 60-80 mg and you'll puke your guts out. I don't see the appeal of that really.

Thanks again Tijuana!

Vicodin can be super addictive...and it's the least potent of all of them. I had knee surgery a few years back and had an unlimited amount of Vicodin refills...I was taking them like they were candy...even when the pain wasn't that bad. You physically get hooked on them. I was able to stop..but only because they finally put the ixnay on my refills.

Tons of stuff can be super addictive but that's no reason to take it off the market. Vicodin and Percocet have legitimate medical and recreational (heheh) uses.

This is just more of the nanny-state trying to control everything. Disgusting.

The really fucked thing is that you guys can't get shit with codeine in it. That stuff is awesome, and over the counter here
It's so weird that you can't get codeine, but they have no problem dolling out the oxycodone.
