10,000 posts in 6 days

So.. we are about to hit 10,000 posts tonight. The forum is only 6 days old. Very young for stats like that. What are your thoughts and comments on this place so far? Any changes you want to see? Anything you love or hate about it? Any improvements you'd make if you were me? Any ideas on how to get the other 100,000+ affiliates, webmasters, programmers, and designers here and away from their boring forums and blogs?

First I want to say that this is just incredible...I see a lot of forums come and go, and I don't know when was the last time that I saw a forum hit it so big as this one after less than a week. Whatever you did, good job.

Don't lose grip of your goal here - to be the different webmaster forum...you're onto something there, something that nobody else really has...and I have a feeling it is something that not many people even want to get close to.

I'm going to voice the opinion that I don't really think that we should try to lure 100,000+ people here. Sure we need some fresh blood, but it's nice to be a smallish forum where we all kind of "know" each other. If you get too many people, then you will start to experience a bit of, "Who the hell is that guy?"

I don't want to be known by everyone.. and sometimes being anonymous is good. I think once you have an established "family" of some sort on here, the more people that join, just make it the more fun to shoot the shit and post witty remarks. It's all about networking and having fun in the end. The more the merrier.

It's not unusual to see the members say that they don't want to see things get any bigger, because they like their little tight knit community...but let's face it, the owner does what he wants to do - and how many of us could run these forums and honestly say that we are not interested in them becoming huge? That's what 90% of webmasters are interested in...growing and growing and growing and growing...until they just can't grow anymore.

So...I'm not going to hold anything against you if you wanna make this place as big as it can be, Jon...I'd want to do the same thing

Reminds me of GFY.COm's explosive growth in 2001. Now that forum's owned by Playboy enterprises. Maybe the same fate awaits Wickedfire? Well, except for the owned by Playboy part...maybe a mainstream counterpart of Mr. Hefner's company heheheeh Anyway, congrats to Jon and the WF crew for creating one hell of a forum

The growth is definitely impressive, there is no doubt about that. While there is a lot of information in here... it's mostly very general information that could be easily found elsewhere. It sounds like you have plenty of plans to be able to keep the members and the posts growing, I think that you need some authorities members to establish the legitimacy of the forums.

You've got a great name for yourself, and it's obviously been a huge part in the success of the site. But other than Lee, and one post by Aaron Wall, I haven't noticed any other big names. I think it would do wonders for the forums to get some big names in here posting some unique content that can't be found anywhere else.

I'm not trying to knock the forums at all, the growth is unheard-of within 6 days. Just offering my thoughts on what I think would improve the forums. .

EDIT: and get a damn thumbsup emoticon .

Excellent point. I'm going to try and get some of my big time pals on here to be more active. I think most of the authoritive figures come once forums start gaining in popularity and they have something they want to advertise or push. A lot of it can also be an ego thing. Not saying that they are all like that, but many are.

We are making a lot of apperance upgrades this weekend. New icons. Fixing the current ones so they look better around the edges, etc.

There will always be naysayers no matter how many people join up and become active here. It's all part of the fact that they either refuse to come to term with reality, or they are just idiots. I'm not saying you have to be smart and you have to agree with this forum or what the overall goal is, but when you take time out of your day to bash something you know nothing about, then you lose all credibility with me.

They are probably a little over whelmed at the moment too. The forum has exploded in terms of posts and no doubt if they start posting they will be flooded with questions.

It would be great to see them more active in the subscription area.

Please, oh please, Jon. Don't let them advertise their stuff. Then this place would just turn into the Warrior Forum with everyone trying to get you to buy their "amazing" product that will make you millions!

I thought the whole point of the forum was that help would be offered more freely.

Don't worry. No one is going to advertise their ebooks here, unless they do say in the buy/sell/trade section. Especially since I'm so anti-get rich quick with little or no work ebooks.
